Previously on WeWanderlustCo on our third day we took the bullet train to Osaka where we checked into our cozy Airbnb explored the neighborhood and walked into our first pachinko slot experience and found our favorite snack today we head to Kyoto to experience the most beautiful autumn
Leaves in arashiyama where the scene felt like it was straight out of a movie autumn breeze Autumn Leaves romance in the air dreamy to say the least oh and there’s a special person we’d like you to meet [Train announcement in Japanese]
Morning guys hi guys we are in Kyoto yeah specifically Arashiyama and today we will be taking a tour of this beautifully scenic place and engaging in some momjigari (fall leaves viewing) yes right now kind of exploring the grounds of Kyoto super nice all the leaves are all turning red the maple
Leaf trees but yeah we’re going to be visiting the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and then making our way down over to the Katsura River supposedly the river bank has all these red maple leaves kind of lining up the river and they have some Gingko trees yes we’ll take you guys let’s go enjoy We’re passing by this super cute Cafe it’s called the Rickshaw Cafe and I can’t help but look at their mascot it’s such a cute figurine with like a beanie and a nice cute warm coat or whatever warm cape it’s super cute and they have like
Some really delicious like toast and see a really nice chocolate cake but we just got here so we’re going to go explore first and maybe we’ll come here later There’s so many beautiful ladies in kimonos and I think you can rent kimonos while you’re here and 4500 for a whole day not a bad deal they have beautiful kimono rentals here I’ve seen a couple ladies to walk out they look so pretty I’m sure they have so
Many beautiful colors and designs in there but yeah today’s not my day looks so pretty though We have everyone here from toddlers to newborns to grandparents to like really elderly people just enjoying all the leaves or picking up leaves or enjoying the scenery it’s really nice and then we have tourists [laughter] guys so we’re here at the Nanhou Buddhist temple yeah the whole place is
Surrounded by these fall trees which turn this nice hue of like reddish and orange looks amazing in person got a nice amount of crowds coming out today coming here for the viewing so feels uh feels very special to be part of this
So the actual walk up to the temple like all lined up with all these trees right yeah it’s probably one of the most scenic paths because it’s lined up with so many of these maple trees and it’s filled with tourists people come from all around the world for Autumn Leaves viewing and especially in Arashiyama
Cuz they’re full of Autumn Leaves and also another popular season is sakura season it’s a beautiful area it’s surrounded by it’s called storm mountains which is the Arashi Mountains and then the Oi River kind of runs through it just makes the place look so scenic
Yeah it’s a world heritage site so you know ooh look at those leaves as the light hits it right How about having a bike spot that has such a beautiful tree right next to it it’s so nice yeah I’d always love coming home parking my bike under such a tree yeah so aesthetic and guys the mountain up there got all the different ranges of color looks amazing
Looks really nice right yeah all these beautiful maple trees that come alive during Autumn and it’s so nice there’s like trees everywhere can we take it home right can we take it home so we’ve passed by the Hogon-in Temple it’s a beautiful quaint Buddhist temple with like landscape Japanese garden inside and
They also have like a a nice tea ceremony that you can pay for but unfortunately you can’t film or take photos in there so we won’t be able to show it to you guys so skip that but yeah
It’s all within walking distance the next place is the Arashiyama Museum of Arts and Culture arts and culture yeah and it’s walking distance it’s literally right next to it yeah and then like we find that there’s a apparently a luxury hotel called Suiran right
In front of the river so yeah so like riverfront access yeah imagine that yeah not a collaboration but Suiran if you’re watching you know it’d be nice I could wake up to these beautiful river views that would be nice exactly yeah but yeah so it’s all within walking distance and then the star
Of the show I think yes is the river itself with the beautiful boats on it it’s nice it’s such a beautiful scenery with the backdrop of the Arashi Mountains this is also called Storm Mountain the way that it’s so Grand and standing it’s feels like it’s a storm about to happen but
It’s so beautiful like you have all the maple trees and I see some Gingko trees up there too oh my goodness oh wow okay and then like I think Togetsukyo Bridge is on the left the Sagano there’s
A nice little scenic train that kind of runs through on the other side it’s called the Sagano Romantic Train [Train whistles] we were going to do that but then we found out that if you get seated on the wrong
Side you won’t be able to see the scenery but we thought we’d just come here and just enjoy the open wide views that we have here and yeah I would highly recommend just doing that instead
Just coming here maybe getting on a boat I think it’s like uh I see that it’s like 1,800 for an hour or something 1800 Yen let’s take a walk yeah such a beautiful like scene the entire scene is so beautiful I feel like this place has possibly the most colors right
Mhm that they we’ve seen so far on the road yes yeah yeah this is such a romantic place I can see like so many couples young couples at that Today we made a friend his name is Hiro to us his uncle Hiro he comes to the *river every morning by himself to enjoy nature and people watch and as the seasons have changed he’s watched thousands
Of tourists come and go over the years by chance we talked and we’re so grateful to have met and shared a special moment in time with him he also carries a vintage film camera that he uses to
Capture moments in time and he was kind enough to capture ours so nice to meet you California? yes yeah? okay he’s going to send us the uh yay he took our photo on a film camera so hopefully we get it in a few months
At this moment we found a lifelong pen pal but who knows we might just make that trip back to Kyoto to see him again so nice this is one of those spots that everyone always comes to You walk down like this really long path and almost towards the end you have these beautiful
Maple trees and you can climb under and kind of walk right by the river and I think it’s just so beautiful and I really wanted I really wanted to come here and walk right down by the river thank
You honey for taking that shot, all good but it has gotten really dark and I don’t know if it’s going to start raining I hope not yeah just imagine um it being lit up yeah cuz uh like the sun kind
Of lighting up the water and the leaves would have been amazing yeah so nice might have to come back that’s the beauty of travel right you may not get to see it all or experience it all it only invites you to come back
All this exploring calls for a little break and we are sitting under the prettiest maple tree full of pretty leaves maple leaves and like there’s a bed there’s a blanket of maple leaves right on the ground here it looks so nice and we have cookies that we already dug into
We have some chocolate chip cookies we have calorie mate I kind of sometimes have this for breakfast because it’s just fast and we’re on the go and it’s a nutritionally balanced block so you get all your vitamins and nutrients from here and this Be Kind bar I’m not quite sure like
What’s in it it’s all in Japanese but it looked so pretty yeah right look how pretty that looks I feel like it has flower flakes maybe yeah oh yeah I just don’t know what type of flower like I don’t
Know if it’s like rose petals could be and then we have our trusted Kirin which has turned from very hot to almost ice cold yeah let’s dig in yeah it’s got a nice uh white chocolate base I think
Cute like leaves falling I got blessed with a maple leaf you know what these are rose petals really that’s incredible what rose petals so I don’t know if the back is like yogurt oh okay like you know when you have that coating the yogurt coating with the caramelized almonds and like lots
Of um rose petals nice you can taste the rose really mhm is it fragrant mhm ahh so good and healthy Cookie We thought we went through a lane of all the beautiful trees then you walk down come up another pathway and it’s lined with this beautiful maple trees that are in different shades it’s like green yellow light orange super bright red dark red it’s just so mesmerizing it’s so nice and its very peaceful
I was telling Shafeen that it was this spot when I caught her I videoed her taking a photo of I think the three girls yeah you’re wearing your Japan jacket denim jacket
Yeah and then let’s go see the spot we we’re sitting at in 2019 in 2019 during Spring let’s do it in Fall so nostalgic very we’re just walking like the same steps that we did a few years ago yeah and that was in cherry blossom season and now this is Autumn
Yeah guys it got really cold with the little drizzle that we got and then uh the sun is not shining through so yeah it looks uh quite gloomy but I think it’s still very romantic it’s that cozy season vibes it’s nice and cool and
A lot of the trees that don’t have leaves I guess are actually maybe cherry blossom trees and then the rest are mixed in with Maple and the Gingko trees but wow so yeah the ones that you
See that has nothing oh yeah during cherry blossom it’s going to have a whole lot of flowers But I was going to say that it was Shafeen’s idea to visit Japan for all four seasons so we have at
Least visited two seasons might be going to a third during winter if we survive [laughter] yeah it’s already so cold and chilly during Autumn itself we were wondering what Winter is going to
Look like feel like but yeah it was my dream it’s been a long time dream to spend a year in Japan to be able to experience all the seasons we’ve experienced two thankfully and let’s hope we’re alive long enough to experience the other two this is where we we’re sitting in 2019
Overlooking all the cherry blossom trees yeah let’s take a seat where history is repeated yeah very nostalgic come along all right Wow wow amazing oh my goodness so guys that’s the Arashiyama Lookout Point that’s the Viewpoint and actually its a super scenic viewpoint you could see the entire storm mountains so Arashiyama Mountains from there yeah it looks so
Nice oh yeah it’s uh nice and breezy I I was going to say uh it’s so beautiful you could see you could see the valley from up here and also sometimes people kind of wait here to see
The Sagano Romantic Train kind of pass by right at the bottom and then you can also see those boats that you take from one end to the other end yeah they do also have a temple up top on the left-hand side uh which you could hike to it’s such a beautiful temple
I don’t remember seeing it in 2019 like am I’m not sure I don’t know unless it was covered by foliage or something yeah maybe that’s what happened uh but yeah it’s a nice Scenic Viewpoint Do recommend coming out to me the Fall Foliage right now looks so much better than how we found
It for Sakura season yeah yeah it’s so colorful yeah it’s because I feel like a lot of trees make up the forest versus Sakura trees being only in designated areas right so yeah it’s slightly different uh but yeah mix the reds and the orange and the yellows it looks really nice yeah
I would definitely come here again Again during fall yeah definitely yeah we’ll see how it is in Winter if anything if we do comeout here again yeah I think we’re going to make our way down to the Grove to The Grove yeah so the Arashiyama Grove is the most important part of this whole
Scenic surroundings because people always come to see The Grove and its super popular with the tourists and then the area that we were in earlier was like the second most popular along with the bridge but yeah so let’s go check that out hopefully we don’t have a lot of crowds now All right guys we hope you enjoyed walking with us through the beautiful Bamboo Grove the only thing that’s changed is the foliage so from Sakura Season like all light and bright to now like warm tones of the Fall foliage yeah so there was this one patch where it was this straight
Orange uh leaves and then as the sun kind of hit it the entire Grove was glowing orange because everything is green with the bamboos um but at this one area looks so nice but yeah you
Have your tall bamboo in the Groves uh amazing as usual yeah uh so yeah kind of walked through that ended up at The Shrine ah yes kind of got to see how they do the prayers and all uh
So they have this wishing yeah you can go just pay your respects pray at The Shrine but then also they have like these you know uh the fortune thing and also like there’s these
Charms where you can make a wish and put it in a packet and then like kind of leave it there for like could be for good health for fertility for passing your exams for long life or love uh all
That stuff so it it was pretty cool to see people doing that and we also even saw a cute little girl like she went and like prayed for a little bit and then her dad was uh watching her how she
Was doing her prayer it was so nice yeah but yeah uh we came out to the main town area uh passing by a lot of uh those vendors selling those sweet potatoes oh yeah yams and Mochi balls and they have a whole bunch of like souvenirs and restaurants restaurants are even opening up
And the guys on the rickshaws are still hard at it oh my goodness like yeah it’s dark already All that strength that they have I feel bad I honestly feel bad for them like you need so
Much strength to take really sometimes really heavy people up and down like the inclines are slightly hilly in some places but that’s something you could do here if you’re interested in it Thank You so much for coming along with us today we hope you enjoyed the video Yeah and remember guys wherever you go
Don’t forget to wander we’ll see you in the next one Sayonara for now Bye Next on WeWandelrustCo That’s the main crab we’re talking about [laughter[
