(Computer generated voice over) Hi everyone, in this video series, I will show you my four-day trip to Echigo Yuzawa in Niigata Prefecture. It’s my first time here, so join me as we explore the sights around Echigo Yuzawa station and indulge in some delicious local cuisines.

Plus, I’ll take you on a side trip to Karuizawa and Shiozawa, and we’ll unbox the two ryokans where I stayed during my trip. Without further ado, let’s get going! After checking out of our hotel in Shibuya, we stored our luggage at Wander Compass

To avoid the hassle of carrying it all on the train. Wander Compass also provides tourist information and guided tours. You can find all the links related to the places mentioned in this video in the description box below. We hopped on the Jōetsu Shinkansen from Tokyo to Echigo Yuzawa

Which took about 1 hour and 20 minutes just enough time to savor all this delicious food I’m a seafood bento enthusiast they taste amazing even when cold This assorted sushi tray is only 600 yen And don’t forget to try the egg sandwich it’s a must-have in Japan.

Echigo Yuzawa is famous for its stunning scenery, popular ski resorts, and hot springs. With its fresh mountain air and pure water, it’s also a hub for producing famous sake. At the station, you’ll find plenty of shops selling souvenirs and local goods

But our destination stands out clear and resolute the Marketplace CoCoLo Yuzawa Welcome to my paradise the Ponshukan Sake Tasting Room Since Niigata is famous for its high-quality rice, it’s no surprise that it boasts some of the best sake in Japan.

The tasting room offers nearly 100 types of sake from Niigata’s 90 breweries. For just 500 yen at the door, you’ll receive a sake cup and five tasting coins. Sample up to five cups of sake or use multiple tasting coins to explore premium selections. It’s like a gachapon machine but filled with sake.

And if you’re having trouble deciding, just refer to the ranking list or ask the staff for recommendations. After our tasting, we explored the marketplace, greeted by a vast selection of sake. We lost track of time amidst the countless options, wishing we could take them all home.

For sake enthusiasts, this place is sheer happiness. Following our sake adventure, we headed to Nomisugi Kenshin, an izakaya restaurant, for dinner. The restaurant is very authentic and cozy. We savoured assorted sashimi and motsunabe. The Motsunabe was so flavourful it is a traditional Japanese hot pot delicacy that

Features tender beef or pork offal simmered with an array of vegetables including cabbage, leek, and garlic. Renowned for its exquisite flavor and health benefits, motsunabe has gained popularity due to its high protein and collagen content, all while remaining low in calories. For this trip,

We used the JR Tokyo Wide Pass, which provides three days of unlimited travel on trains and Shinkansen in the covered area. We managed to save around 9000 yen before the recent price increase, but even with the adjustment, you’ll still save around 4000 yen with the same itinerary.

You can conveniently purchase the pass and reserve a seat on the JR East website. Our first day in Echigo Yuzawa was incredibly relaxing and fulfilling. In the next video, I’ll take you along on our side trip to Karuizawa and Shiozawa.
