“This time, we bring you the Diamond Princess Cruise to Taiwan and Okinawa!” “Enjoy a 9-day cruise departing and arriving in Japan.” “This time, we’re boarding the cruise from Yokohama and heading to Taiwan and Okinawa!”

“Itinerary: Yokohama → Full day at sea → Ishigaki Island → Okinawa → Taiwan → Full day at sea → Yokohama” “As a heads up, we couldn’t land on Ishigaki Island due to a typhoon…” “Since we’re heading to Taiwan this time, I brought my passport.”

“It feels quite surreal to be able to travel from Japan to Taiwan by cruise.” “Got the room key and completed the boarding process!” “Last time I cruised, I booked on the ship and got a plan that reduced the fare by half, so I booked again this time.”

“The price does not include the Princess Plus fee.” “My previous room was the cheapest inside twin room.” “This time, I chose a room with a sea-view balcony as it was cheaper.” “This room seems to be the most popular one.” “Wow, amazing!!” “The size is about 22-29m², bigger than last time.”

“On the table, there are cruise schedules and port tour materials.” “The closet and shower room are the same as the inside twin room.” “The size and the number of hangers provided are also the same.” “The difference is that there are windows! And a balcony!!”

“Compared to a room without windows, the sense of openness is completely different.” “It’s more expensive, but I’m glad I chose a room with a balcony.” “We will conduct an evacuation drill before departure.” “Go to the muster station, present your room key, and the drill is complete.”

“I decided to join the Princess Plus plan this time (¥4,250 per day in Japan).” “With Princess Plus, you get unlimited drinks (up to 15 per day), tips included, and unlimited Wi-Fi.” “There are so many options, it’s hard to choose.” “Beer and wine are also unlimited up to 15 per day.”

“Drinks from Princess Premium are extra.” “So I ordered a drink called Prosecco.” “Going to have some beer too.” “15 drinks a day might seem like a lot, but it includes juice and mineral water, so it feels like a great deal.” “Diamond Princess sets sail!”

“Watched by many people, the cruise will head to Ishigaki Island the day after tomorrow.” “Wow. There are so many passengers.” “We’re passing under the Yokohama Bay Bridge.” “Every time, it’s worryingly close, as if we might collide.” “I also saw the beautifully shaped Mount Fuji!” “A very auspicious start.”

“For dinner, we went to ‘Kai,’ a Japanese cuisine restaurant.” “With the Princess Plus plan, one meal at Kai is free.” “It’s nice to have a Japanese restaurant on an international cruise ship.” “There’s a wide variety of fish.”

“The left side of the menu is à la carte, and the right side is for course meals.” “Everything is in English, so it’s a good chance to improve your English skills.” “The course meal consists of an appetizer (miso soup or edamame), nigiri sushi, sashimi, roll sushi, and dessert (matcha ice cream).”

“I chose eel for the nigiri sushi and scallops for the sashimi.” “Of course, miso soup is a must with sushi!” “The roll sushi was a seared spicy tuna.” “This is incredibly delicious!” “I decided to try a dish I had never heard of before called Tres Amigos.” “The scallops were large and juicy.”

“This is definitely a restaurant I would want to visit at least once during a long cruise.” “It was really delicious!” “We went to the pool tonight. (Filmed in summer)” “The pool is lit up, creating a stylish atmosphere.” “The pool is very deep, so I swim with a life jacket.”

“The shallow part is 1.5m deep and the deeper part is 2.2m.” “There are no lifeguards, so if you drown, there’s no one to help you.” “The water is salty, so it seems like they use seawater.” “The waves are comfortable, and it feels like swimming in the sea.”

“At night, there’s no worry about sunburn and fewer people, so it’s recommended.” “Next to the pool, there’s also a jacuzzi.” “The water in the jacuzzi is warm…” “Watching a movie while soaking in the warm water.” “This is heaven.” “Besides the outdoor pool, there’s also an indoor pool available.”

“During the cruise, as you tend not to exercise much and just eat, swimming in the pool is a good change of pace and a way to exercise.” “My first time at a night pool. Nice.” “There are four pools on the Diamond Princess that you can use for free.”

“Tomorrow, we plan to stop at Ishigaki Island.” “My first time visiting Ishigaki Island. I’m excited.” “Morning of the third day.” “The weather is very nice.” “It seems like the typhoon is getting closer.” “Today is a full day of sailing. It looks like it will rain continuously from tomorrow.”

“I’ll spend my time inside the ferry.” “You can order food using an app.” “Since I joined Diamond Princess Plus, I don’t need to worry about drink charges or tips.” “They deliver the food to your room. How convenient!” “I ordered potatoes, fried chicken, and a hamburger.”

“I’ll get my day’s total calorie intake from breakfast.” “Even with such a large order, there’s no extra charge.” “You can indulge in calories without worrying about what others think.” “Perhaps because of living like this every day, I gained 3kg after disembarking.”

“The weather is so nice, it’s hard to believe a typhoon is approaching.” “With Princess Plus, you can eat other foods for free too.” “You can order two premium desserts for free per day.” “The quantity is… huge…” “It’s a size of parfait I rarely see in Japan.”

“You can order it even if you’re not in the plan, but it costs around $12.” “A parfait irresistible to those who love sweets.” “The parfait is filled with lots of ice cream and whipped cream.” “It’s delicious but too much for one person to finish.” “There are bars located all over the ship.”

“I want to order a drink I usually don’t have, since I’m here.” “I’ll try ordering the 24k Gold Margarita.” “They make it as soon as you order.” “It looks like bright red shaved ice.” “Cute appearance, but the alcohol content is strong.”

“I’ve come to the gym because gaining any more weight would be troublesome.” “Even during a cruise, when it’s easy to lack exercise, you can still work out well here.” “Burn, fat, burn!!”

“Lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight, lose weight.” “Day 4 of the cruise life.” “Today, we’re docking in Okinawa.”

“We arrive in Okinawa at 7:00 AM and depart at 6:30 PM.” “It looks like we’ll be able to land in Okinawa safely thanks to the good weather. Yay!” “Now, where shall I go~?” “It seems it takes about 30 minutes on foot from Okinawa port to the main street.”

“It’s such good weather, hard to believe it was forecasted to rain.” “The sea is incredibly beautiful!!” “Ahhh!! I want to swim!!” “I finally made it to Ichiba Hondori after getting lost on the way.” “Ichiba Hondori is a 160m long shopping street located in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture.”

“When in Okinawa, you must try Blue Seal ice cream!” “Blue Seal is an ice cream parlor born in America and raised in Okinawa.” “This time, I ordered the purple sweet potato soft serve.” “Even though it’s Japan, it feels like I’ve come to a foreign country.”

“The purple sweet potato is not too sweet and matches well with the soft serve. Delicious!” “I also ordered a shikuwasa (Okinawan citrus) juice.” “It’s very sour, perfect for the hot summer.” “Next, I visited a popular Sata Andagi shop called ‘Matsubara-ya Seika’.” “It’s an Okinawan confectionery shop with over 60 years of history.”

“There are three flavors of Sata Andagi: purple sweet potato, brown sugar, and plain.” “I bought one of each as a souvenir for myself.” “For lunch, I went to ‘Kadoya,’ a Soki Soba shop near the market.” “The shop has a dignified appearance.”

“The menu offers only four types of soba and inari sushi, posted on the wall.” “I ordered the Soki Soba this time.” “The small plate is for placing the bones.” “Soki Soba is Okinawa soba topped with Soki (spare ribs).” “Thrilled to see four big pieces of pork in it.” “It’s light and very tasty.”

“It’s a flavor you never get tired of, even if you eat it every day.” “Before returning to the cruise ship, I’m going to buy some souvenirs from Okinawa.” “When I was still in elementary school, my school trip was to Okinawa.”

“Back then, I remember buying purple sweet potato tarts and snow salt Chinsuko as souvenirs.” “How many years has it been since then?” “Peanut tofu, shikuwasa, chili oil.” “My taste seems to have changed quite a bit.” “Maybe this is what it means to become an adult.”

“I’m heading back a bit early to make sure I don’t miss the cruise.” “If I miss the cruise ship, I would have to make my own way to the next port of call.” “I want to enjoy Okinawa more, but I’ll save it for my next visit.”

“Every night on the Diamond Princess, there are shows.” “There are two performances each day, so the seats always fill up.” “There were no seats left, so I watched standing.” “Day 5 of life on the Diamond Princess.” “Today, we’re docking in Taiwan.” “I’ve always wanted to visit Taiwan! Yay!”

“Taiwan is one hour behind Japan.” “So, the current time is 7:33 AM.” “On the Diamond Princess, there are paid bus tours at the ports of call.” “As it’s my first time in Taiwan, I’m going on a bus tour.” “Popular bus tours can sell out, so it’s best to book early!”

“The bus tour I reserved goes to Shifen and Jiufen in Taiwan.” “You can exchange Japanese Yen to Taiwanese dollars on the bus.” “The tour guide is Taiwanese but speaks Japanese, which is reassuring.” “It takes about 40 minutes by bus.” “We’ve arrived in Shifen.”

“The weather was forecasted to be rainy, but miraculously, it’s sunny.” “Where did it come from? A dog has followed us.” “While I was distracted by the dog…” “Ohhh!! There are lanterns flying overhead!!” “The small Taiwanese town of Shifen, famous for its local train and lanterns, is a popular tourist destination.”

“It’s amazing how so many lanterns can be flown without causing a fire.” “Each color of the lanterns has a specific meaning.” “So, I’m off to fly a lantern too.” “Flying lanterns is included in the tour I’m on.”

“There are many people, so we go into a shop where lots of lanterns can be flown.” “This looks fun!!” “On the tour, you can’t choose the color of the lantern.” “By the way, red represents health, longevity, peace, etc.” “‘Live to be 100 years old'”

“For a wish, I wrote to live to be 100 and reach 1 million channel subscribers.” “Since I’m writing it, might as well dream big!” “The lanterns are made of water-resistant paper, wire, tape, and bamboo.” “They are floated by heating the air inside like a hot air balloon.”

“It’s finally our turn to release a lantern.” “Ahhhh!!! It’s flying~~~~~~~!!!!!!!!” “So much fun!!!” “After flying the lanterns, we have about an hour of free time.” “Besides lanterns, there are lots of other shops, so it’s enjoyable.” “I found a shop with lots of people.” “It says ‘Peanut Ice Cream Roll’ in Japanese.”

“It’s a sweet I haven’t seen in Japan.” “When you order, they shave peanuts for you.” “If you don’t like cilantro, you can ask for it without.” “The dough is chewy and very delicious.” “The quantity is just the right size for a walking snack.”

“While wondering what souvenirs to buy, I encountered some aggressive salespeople.” “It was delicious, so I bought one.” “And, after tasting and liking it, I also bought some strawberry condensed milk candy.” “While exploring other shops, I surprisingly found a cat.” “It was very small and cute!”

“There are cats and dogs all over the town, creating a peaceful atmosphere.” “Our next tourist destination is Jiufen in Taiwan.” “Jiufen in Taiwan is a very popular tourist destination and is often featured on Japanese TV.” “Wow!!! There are so many people!!”

“Jiufen in Taiwan has many stairs, and there are lots of shops along the way.” “Jiufen is said to be the model for the town in Studio Ghibli’s movie ‘Spirited Away’.” “It has a nostalgic atmosphere and is quite charming.” “This tour included a meal at a restaurant.”

“In Taiwanese restaurants, especially those serving Chinese or Taiwanese cuisine, you often find round tables.” “First, I ordered a Taiwanese beer (extra charge).” “It tastes similar to Japanese beer.” “After a while, various dishes started to be served one after another.” “There’s no menu, so it’s unclear what dishes are being served.”

“I wonder if these are popular dishes in Taiwan??” “Oh! It’s a fried dish!” “I couldn’t tell if it was chicken or fish, but it was tasty.” “There are so many dishes on the menu, allowing you to enjoy a variety of flavors.” “Personally, I found this vegetable? to be delicious.”

“There seemed to be many healthy options, which is good for a diet.” “The dessert is probably ‘Taro Balls (Yu Yuan)’, a Taiwanese sweet.” “It was a restaurant where you can experience a wide range of Taiwanese cuisine all at once.” “After the meal, it’s free time!” “The free time lasts for about an hour.”

“Wow. The atmosphere is really wonderful.” “Next, I’m heading to ‘A-Mei Tea House (Ame Ocha)’, a particularly famous spot in Jiufen.” “The guide took us to the rooftop, and the view was amazing!” “A-Mei Tea House is a place to enjoy Taiwanese tea.” “The recommended set menu includes hot tea and tea snacks.”

“When you order hot tea, the staff brings you the teapot and tea leaves.” “As there are many Japanese tourists, many of the staff can speak Japanese.” “They explain how to brew the tea in Japanese.” “If you ask, the staff will put any leftover tea leaves in a bag for you to take home.”

“First, you enjoy the aroma of the tea.” “Wow. It smells good.” “It’s a very elegant tea ceremony.” “The tea is smooth and easy to drink without any strong aftertaste.” “There are four types of tea snacks.” “Black sugar mochi (Moji), green bean cake, sesame cracker, and sweet plum.”

“They are simple in flavor and delicious.” “After leaving the store, next I came across a shop selling bubble tea.” “I visited the famous ‘Xing Fu Tang’ for bubble milk tea.” “I ordered the popular ‘Xing Fu thick brown sugar bubble milk tea’ from social media.”

“Brown sugar is sprinkled on the milk foam and then torched with a burner.” “This is my first time drinking bubble tea.” “It’s incredibly delicious! The milk is rich.” “The brown sugar is aromatic and perfect for a hot summer day.” “Lastly, I will buy souvenirs from a pineapple cake shop recommended by the guide.”

“Upon entering, I was immediately offered a sample.” “Fresh pineapple cakes are being made continuously.” “My first time in Taiwan. It was a short visit, but a fulfilling journey.” “Next time, I want to stay overnight.” “It was fun! I will visit again!” “Leaving Taiwan, now it’s just a return to Yokohama.”

“But then, a problem arose.” “Due to a typhoon, it seems that the ship cannot arrive in Yokohama on the scheduled day.” “The arrival is delayed by a day, causing panic on board.” “The originally planned arrival day turned into another day at sea, waiting for the typhoon to pass before arriving in Yokohama.”

“The arrival was delayed by a day, but there was no extra charge. Yay!” “The waves are rough due to the typhoon.” “It’s dangerous, so entering the pool is prohibited.” “I came to the café on board.” “In the café, you can enjoy a variety of coffees and drinks.”

“Besides coffee, they also have matcha drinks.” “I ordered a matcha latte and a matcha cappuccino.” “If you’re a member of Princess Plus, these are also free.” “The taste is the same as what you would drink in Japan.” “Both are sweet and very delicious!”

“Although it turned into an extra day at sea, life on the ship is as usual.” “Various events are held on the ship.” “Most events don’t cost much and are fun to watch.” “Anyone can freely participate in the events.” “Due to the extended day, some unusual events were held.”

“It was an event where Diamond Princess employees shared about their life on the ship, including bars, restaurants, and gyms that only they can use.” “Before disembarking, I checked the total amount spent during the trip.” “I learned for the first time that if the total is negative, you get a refund.”

“I guess the tax for the missed port of Ishigaki Island was refunded.” “My mother’s receipt was negative, so she got some money back.” “The refund is only given in US dollars.” “My second time on the Diamond Princess.” “Despite the typhoon scare, I was able to enjoy both Okinawa and Taiwan.”

“It costs a bit, but joining the Princess Plus and choosing a room with a balcony is highly recommended.” “Where to next?” “Thank you for watching until the end.”
