It is found in the leafy Arashiyama district in the west of the city, about a 30-minute drive from Kyoto Station. From here, there are a lot of amazing tourist sights in the area, such as the light-filled Arashiyama bamboo forest, the jade-green Katsuma River, and the ancient Tenryu-ji Temple.
The designers took advantage of the fact that the hotel is located on the banks of the Katsuma River and added pebble pathways, tuffy Japanese pine trees, and some slight changes to the waterfalls. There are two historic villas right in the heart of the hotel that house the two restaurants.
In fact, it is said to have been built in the 19th century, which is pretty insane. Even though the hotel is part of a collection of resorts that offer high-end amenities, don’t expect that here. Suiran offers simpler pleasures, but they are sure to make you feel like you are in a 5-star hotel.
The rooms combine the aesthetics of a traditional Japanese ryokan, which includes tatami mat flooring, textured walls, black lacquer furniture, and cedar wood onsen, with contemporary comforts. For more privacy, go to the rooms on the ground floor.
But if you are in Kyoto, you might consider the rooms upstairs for the view you are going to get. You will have the perfect blend of ancient Japanese style with modern luxuries. 5. Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto, a Luxury Collection Hotel

They may look a bit too simple, but don’t underestimate the luxury that they have to offer.
