Now loading the video…. January 10th, 2024 Dotonbori, Osaka, Japan Osaka’s most crowded commercial district with tourists Luckily on the day I visited here, there was a Matsuri festival taking place on the Dotonbori streets So lively Today, we are riding an overnight bus from Osaka to Tokyo

But before the travel, let’s enjoy a bit of Osaka here in Dotonbori Let’s eat Takoyaki(Osaka’s soul food) at Kukuru, the top restaurant of Takoyaki in Dotonbori Takoyaki 8 pieces, 1,012JPY/7.0USD Takoyaki is in the shape of little round balls containing pieces of octopus with other ingredients Put soy sauce and mayonnaise on

Give me a sec We also need bonito flakes on Takoyaki One of you: “They are moving!” Don’t worry, they are not living As I was born in Osaka, I always miss Takoyaki No Takoyaki, No Life Osaka is so lively a place “IJOOZ” Found a “freshly-squeezed orange juice” vending machine 1 juice, 350JPY/2.4USD

A lot of fresh oranges are prepared inside They are squeezed in the machine 4 oranges are squeezed for 1 juice How luxurious After juicing, the machine wraps the cup and it’s done Freshly squeezed juice in the middle of a busy town, nice “I have a…” “I have a…” oh this song… 2016 vibe

“Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen!!” So today, we are trying the latest overnight bus between Osaka and Tokyo, DOME, operated by Willer Express The bus leaves from Namba OCAT Bus Terminal which is 10-min walk from Dotonbori We take a 20:50(8:50PM) departure DOME bus bound for Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, and Tokyo Disney Resort in Tokyo

I get off at Shinjuku and the fare was “8,800JPY/61.6USD” for this travel The bus just debuted in last year fall and still feels fresh All seats of DOME are in a pod for privacy and comfortable travel So you can sleep in your own space I booked the window seat, 6C

Take a blanket from the overhead compartment The cabin is dark I tried to turn on the overhead lights of the seat but they were controlled by the driver The spacing between the seats feel not enough Cramped Hook here Adjustable neckrest The biggest feature of DOME is this foldable personal canopy on the seat

It becomes like a sleep pod Under the canopy, you can use your mobile phone in a dark cabin! Usually, it’s prohibited to use a mobile phone on Japanese night buses as it obstructs other passengers’ sleep Hats off to the bus planner Drink holder Overhead a.c. vents

The bus quietly departed on time at 8:50PM I should mention that this bus has no “restroom” on board You: “No way” But instead, it makes a stop at rest areas every 2-3 hours If you have a small bladder, I recommend you may avoid using this bus though

You can refer to the bus guide Reading the guide told me the canopy is equipped with a smart phone holder It holds a phone stably enough and is adjustable like this The fact that you can comfortably watch a video on a night bus Simply amazing There is one more unique feature on DOME

You can access a company website where you can send a direct message to the driver via a company employee in a distant office So no one in the cabin knows who reported to the driver

Like, if you send “The cabin is cold!” in Direct Message, then an employee report it to the driver instead of you It’s a completely new type of in-bus services but how nice Though the legroom is small, there is a footrest under the seat

Being able to take off shoes on bus is very relaxing The reclining is top notch Thanks to the shell-type seat, you can recline the seat without caring about a passenger behind you It’s all yours Though the cabin feels cramped, the seat itself is very comfortable like in a pod

On the right armrest is a power outlet After Namba Terminal, the bus makes a stop at Umeda The cabin got full after Umeda After leaving Umeda, the cabin got into a night sleeping mode But you can still use a mobile phone and watch a video!

This is what we needed during a bus travel I like a night cruising on the highway It’s soothing I want to pee GOD HELP ME Seems I survived I was a bit sleeping We’ve got a 12 min break Here is Konan Parking Area in Shiga Prefecture

After going to the toilet, I felt like grabbing some food But the stores were closed at this time of day However, vending machines are working all night They deserve pay raise Found an ice cream vending machine! This is a kind of thing that I’ve wanted Caramel ribbon, 170JPY/1.1USD

What’s your most favorite ice cream flavor? I love Caramel 1°C (33.8°F) As far as I know, this is the best anime I’ve watched Who ever have watched ASMR video and fallen asleep on a night bus? It’s possible on this bus!

As I was extremely tired, I went to deep sleeping after the first rest stop Good morning (5:47AM) When I woke up, the bus was already in Shinjuku, Tokyo I was completely fast asleep This means the bus is very comfortable for sleeping We arrived at Shinjuku Bus Terminal at 5:55AM It’s very early morning

Thank you Willer Express Dome for the good sleep I always struggle sleeping and get tired on a night bus, but this time, I feel very well even after the 9 hour ride Dome becomes one of my top recommended night buses in Japan Shinjuku Bus Terminal is located right in front of Shinjuku Station

Shinjuku Station is the busiest station in Tokyo with 3.5 million of passengers per day But at around 6AM, it’s quiet 1:25PM Asakusa, Tokyo Asakusa is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tokyo Let’s stroll around Asakusa as a Tokyo sightseeing Look at this amount of people on the Nakamise street Dizzying!

Let us try some street snacks of Asakusa The most iconic one is Ningyo-yaki, which can be translated “Doll cake” People buy Ningyo-yaki as an Asakusa souvenir It’s a castella cake with red bean paste inside Ningyo-yaki come in different shapes and this one is “Five-storied pagoda” Cute

There are a wide range of street snacks to enjoy in Asakusa I’ve got one portion of Asakusa Kibidango, 350JPY/2.4USD containing 5 sticks of sweet millet dumplings with roasted soybean flour on Enjoy the traditional Japanese sweet snack taste From Asakusa, you get to see the Japan’s tallest tower, Tokyo Skytree at 634 m/2080 ft

In Asakusa, you must definitely try “Asakusa Menchi” Asakusa Menchi is a minced meat cutlet and quite popular in the area I’ve got an Asakusa Menchi(350JPY/2.4USD) with a can of beer! The crispy batter wraps high-quality pork mixed with vegetables and spices

As far as I know, this is the best minced meat cutlet(Menchi-katsu) I’ve ever tried Has the best combination of the crispy outside and juicy inside In Japan, it’s legal to drink on the street What about in your country? Since the cutlet is too delicious, we’ve got to be careful about pigeon attacks

The most hated animal in Japan may be pigeons I found a good-atmosphere cafe, Taisho Roman Kan Here, you can rent a Kimono garment and take photos in the cafe but you can just order items Got the cafe’s signature, Haikara(meaning “stylish”) Melon Float, 800JPY/5.6USD What a luxurious melon soda

It’s a very unique cafe where you wear kimono in the western style interior, nice Here is Sensoji Temple, the Asakusa’s main attraction Sensoji is the oldest temple in Tokyo, which dates back to 645 It is the temple of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva (Sho Kanzeon Bosatsu), who embodies the mercy of all Buddhas

This important center of religious faith draws 30 million worshippers every year Crazy amount of worshipping people ahead If you walk a few mins from Asakusa, you reach Sumida River where the surrounding area is so scenic with Tokyo Skytree and buildiings Thank you for watching the video today

  1. my province was testing designated parks where it's legal to drink but it's not legal to drink anywhere else except bars and restaurants or on private property. I'd like to try visiting the parks but maybe when it's warmer…

Will you ride one of those weird fancy looking river boats??

  2. なんか、旅の移動手段というよりは人の輸送な感じがしてしまう。そのうち生きてる人間も冷凍して移動すれば一瞬ですよーとかなりそうで怖い😨

  3. I was surprised that the corridor inside the car was so narrow. If an emergency occurs, getting out of the vehicle is very difficult.

  4. Gourmet food in Osaka is more delicious, cheaper, and more plentiful than in Tokyo.

  5. Hello my traveling geeky friend. At the end of your video you show the Skytree, and there is a very tall building in the picture to the right of it that had an interesting design around the roof. Do you know what that is? I thank you for all of your videos, I truly love them so. ❤

  6. 💛💛💛
    Paper today, we tie!
Thanks for the tour, and all the fun things!
    See ya next time!

  7. In Australia, we love to drink alcohol but it is illegal to drink outside of the home, or bars. Even if you are a passenger in a car, it's illegal to have an open alcoholic beverage. I learnt this the hard way and was threatened with a $150 fine if caught again 😮😅

  8. We're about to depart for Andromeda Galaxy. Passengers! Hurry up and get inside the hibernation capsule.

  9. こういうの見る度、東京大阪間だけじゃなく、もっと疲労困憊になる長距離の方にこういう快適なバスが実装されたらいいのになって思う……。

  10. Someone walking a dog in public in Japan 19:05 Is this an uncommon practice?
Does Shinjiku still have a baseball team “The Lions”?
Thank you for the bus journey, and showing the street fair, very enjoyable.😊

  11. I would just take a plane, the shinkansen, then the overnight train. The bus ride could be my last resort if everything else is not available

  12. Might want to go to the restroom before climbing on board. Unpredictable traffic can make the trip longer. Heads up

  13. Great trip. Yeah, the downside only the restroom absence. Overall nice bus, nice seat, even you can communicate with the driver on duty via website.

  14. Oh no, that's not one I would do well on at all. For one I got long legs. 😂
And no restroom. Just no, not for an over night travel.

  15. My favourite ice cream is vanilla with chocolate sauce. In Canada it is illegal to drink alcohol on the street. I wish we had those buses but there should be a washroom because there are greater distances in Canada.

  16. In Mexico is illegal to drink in the streets, and the people who do that are considered bad mannered and usually criminals. Of course, there's some people who do it just because is forbidden, even when the are not criminals

  17. 😢 no restroom??? If I am in the car for more than 30 seconds, I NEED to use the restroom. This is a no brainer….I'm definitely not going.

  18. Am I the only one who feels (again!) that Japanese society is made up of undiagnosed schizophrenics? At least in the big cities.

  19. Thanks for the video! I am planning a trip this year, and thinking of getting a bus from osaka to tokyo to save one night of hotel. Does willer accept international credit cards?
