Is Kyoto Overrated? šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡µ

Our travels in Kyoto continue as we begin the day at the Imperial Palace, the former palace of the Emperor of Japan before the capital city moved to Tokyo following the Meiji Restoration in 1869. We explore the many grand wooden buildings built out of the incredibly strong cypress tree before venturing through the Emperorā€™s beautiful Japanese water garden. After a short pit stop in a Japanese tea room we cycle Kotobikeā€™s along the river to the legendary Fushimi Inari Shrine, world famous for its hundreds of torii gates. Fuelled up on sushi, we walk through the many gates to the top of the mountain which appears at the end of a dark forest path.

Day two in Kyoto and weā€™re now at the Imperial Palace which is basically where the Imperial family the emperor used to live until 1869 during the medi restoration so the old capital used to be in Kyoto and then in 1869 it moved to Tokyo this is Bally where the old Emperorā€™s Imperial family

Used to live yes Sillyā€™s very hot youā€™re looking very Japanese arenā€™t you I have nothing to say letā€™s explore the palace this is the Great Hall which I donā€™t think weā€™re allowed in do anything is what that thatā€™s the Great Hall the banquet hall how do you know that I said outside

Oh so either it doesnā€™t say or Iā€™m not reading it usually one of the two all these strong wooden buildings you see are made out of Cyprus Tree Cyprus Tree Cyprus s tree um which is obviously very very strong wood I know we just saying I canā€™t believe it

Lasts so long yeah which is how itā€™s able to kind of be in such good condition for hundreds of years look at this building the Hall of the Sacred mirror sounds like something out Harry Potter not the mirror of era said should we start going to Harry Potter mode again not

Again the living quarters of the emperor the C Oden Japanese Water Gardens are just too epic theyā€™re so peaceful arenā€™t they they [Applause] are ancient Japanese football pure possession no goals legendary how somehow we got forc to come in here yeah we got tripped inside didnā€™t

We dly needs her coffee or she doesnā€™t function well in the day is it good they not good you donā€™t like youā€™re too happy with It whatā€™s wrong of it Iā€™ve balls what have you ordered let me try something itā€™s co itā€™s Coca-Cola red itā€™s Coca-Cola with milk yeah there nothing special is it itā€™s not awful though itā€™s not awful so how relaxing are these Japanese t-s list to this music itā€™s just like the music

Is nice I could just got a bed on the floor seiz V bed on the floor weā€™re back on our favorite okay cutle bikes unlock we got a short 7 km Journey to our next destination which might be the most famous place in Koto there you go youā€™re

A natural Iā€™m getting better at Hope itā€™ll be a nice Scenic ride thereā€™s a thereā€™s a huge spider here no one clearly no one really uses these only weā€™re crazy enough to do this okay Iā€™m ready all right letā€™s go we got our rout

25 minutes in a car so 40 minutes for us probably you good what happened itā€™s like to run forward I stop weā€™re going to die these river systems have got to be my favorite thing about Kyoto I think itā€™s just so so peaceful down here everyoneā€™s sitting on the bank fishing having some

Food what day is it Friday yes itā€™s so nice down here isnā€™t it so nice all these lovely wooden buildings oh gosh itā€™s itā€™s really hard work guys itā€™s really hot I can some last I think we might have arrived judging by these crowds the day another Sushi picnic in

The car park weā€™ve left our bikes and weā€™ve left the tourist area to have some lunch we got veg Sushi we got tuna we got salmon we got these weird chicken rice balls so I donā€™t really know what they are but theyā€™re cheap a bucket of

Soy and then Ginger Wasabi and all of this in our favorite Supermarket life cost about10 yeah I also got Coke as well I betrayed myself this probably wonā€™t be the last time you see us do this in Japan weā€™re going to eat all of this now

Before we head to the very special shm Ryan good also everyoneā€™s coming in and out of the supermarket thatā€™s actually not on there right now but oh there we go they look when theyā€™re like what the hell theyā€™re like what are these absolute Sushi crack fiends doing in the corner of the car

Park here we are Fushimi Inari which translates in Japanese to tourist hell hole that was quite funny you like that one yeah wow all right we made it to the entrance now look at this weā€™ve navigated our way through the crowds and to be fair this is pretty impressive I love the

Colors no animals here sorry you have turn around oh that is a good one this is the most important Inari shine which is the god of rice in Japan in Japan most important Shrine for the god of rice wasnā€™t the best worded sentence ever but weā€™re going to go with

It um the god of rice the god of rice thereā€™s millions of them AR there there are millions of gates for millions of tourists itā€™s nice with the sunlight I know itā€™s nice isnā€™t it so this path of Tory Gates leads to mount anari and the sacred Forest below it Pit Stop

Whole lot of gates so anari is the Shinto God of rice and foxes are her Messengers is why you see a lot of fox statues around here and foxes in real life and foxes in real life they have foxes in Japan they do donā€™t they yeah um I think theyā€™re a bit

Nicer than the foxes we see in London theyā€™re probably like wild I mean all foxes are wild but you know like proper nice ones yeah soft nice ones lives in the woods and donā€™t live out of bins getting steep now time for you to take the bag again yeah probably our best

Interests we were not expecting this well I wasnā€™t I bet it was I donā€™t think itā€™ll be this s donā€™t know how many gates weā€™ve gone through I think thereā€™s like more than 10,000 in total something like That 20 minutes to go Iā€™m going to see these gates in my dreams tonight it does feel a bit like weird doesnā€™t it itā€™s trippy itā€™s a bit like Mario Kart itā€™s like a Mario Kart is itā€™s like that Mario Kart game and Universal to be fair this will make a

Good Mario Kart track it would Nintendo if youā€™re watching this make it happen these foxes with their little bibs on whatā€™s in their mouth donā€™t know like a bit of wood itā€™s quite creepy around here now getting dark isnā€™t it lots of big spiders and huge

Webs I think weā€™re nearly here oh gosh every time I think that I just see more more more orange but this girl ahead of us is wearing heels like this big I I mean not why I not in shorts oh God am I in I think this is it Ed this the

Top this the top yeah who made it really hot that was good though you got a coin no oh maybe in my bag Iā€™ve got have every bag we own huh Iā€™m slightly disappointed thereā€™s no view yeah but we made it thatā€™s the important thing one side pockets cuz

This place is special Iā€™m going to give them a 50 aming people he we walk the way the hill for it yeah they should be paying us they canā€™t give us there they be nice they should be paying us my usual one look at this within shine see why this place is

So special now and now we all the way back down itā€™s a wild Japanese cat fat cat one sorry good cat she s weā€™ve made it to the bottom whatā€™ you make it that you know what I actually once I was said to myself this is a 40

Minute climb I had to go over it I was okay I just wasnā€™t expecting it at all I thought when we went up the first gate and came back that was it and then it was like this is 40 minute clim and I was like yeah I was when we got here like

There was so many tourists down at the bottom I was like and he was L running I was like is this going to be another bamboo forest but it was really actually like peaceful and nice once you got high up the mountain and kept walking it was yeah really

Good we teleported from the shrine to the center of Kyoto where weā€™re now going to get some dinner and go to bed weā€™re not going to take you to dinner with us um so that ends this this video our time in Kyoto is over itā€™s over and we might swing back here at

Some point weā€™ll see I feel like there is still more stuff we need to do but thereā€™s so much to do itā€™s quite overwhelming like when you look at what to do there are so many shines so many temples yeah and we havenā€™t really figured out yet so yeah we might come

Back yeah some of them going to be like really amazing that weā€™ve missed that on so maybe weā€™ll come back maybe not um itā€™s been a good time here anyway uh my highlight I donā€™t know itā€™s between the 10 and the many Tory gated Shrine today I Iā€™ll probably give it to

The Tory gated just it was a really just it was a bit longer the temple was quite quick wasnā€™t it oh mineā€™s definitely going to um the the golden temple yeah fair I really like that as well um anyway weā€™re going to get food go to bed uh so thanks for watching drop

A like if you enjoyed subscribe if youā€™re new and weā€™ll see you on the next one bye peace

  2. Overratedā€¦ no. Overcrowded? Yes. There are still some very nice spots that not many tourists make it out to though.
