【So frequent!!】 Riding Japan’s Expressway Bus “Hikino” | Tenjin to Kokura

I took the expressway bus “Hikino” from Tenjin to Kokura in Fukuoka Prefecture in Japan.

How do you go to Kokura from Tenjin or Hakata Station?
If you stay near Hakata Station, the Shinkansen is fastest.
JR Kyushu Limited Express train “Sonic” is also great way.

If you stay in Tenjin, the expressway bus to Kokura is the great way to travel.

There are three services between this route.
The “Nakatani”, “Hikino” and “Itozu”.
I would recommend to take the “Nakatani” or “Hikino”

Good morning from Tenjin in Fukuoka. Today, I’m taking the expressway bus “Hikino” to Kokura. Tenjin and Kokura are popular areas in Fukuoka. Let’s to the Nisihitesu Tenjin Expressway Bus Terminal. This bus terminal is the biggest in Kyushu. You can take the bus to many cities in Kyushu from here.

You don’t have to book the ticket to Kokura. You can buy the ticket at the ticket machine. English, Chinese and Korean are available. It’s pretty easy to buy the ticket. Please buy at the ticket counter, if you are worried. The ticket cost me 1,350 JPY (9.4 USD / 8.6 EUR)

Expressway bus to Kokura departs from bus stop No. 2. I’m pretty excited to take the expressway bus “Hikino”. This is the 2020 model of Hino “S’elega”. It’s time to get on the expressway bus “Hikino”. The seat configuration of the “Hikino” is 2 + 2. Departing from Nishitetsu Tenjin Bus Terminal.

The journey to Kokura is scheduled to take about 1 hour and 35 minutes. All seats are non-reserved seats for Kokura. Let’s check the seats together. The dark blue seats have a chic design. This is a standard seat for the expressway bus in Japan. There are jump seats for this route.

This is actually very useful when it’s crowded. The legroom is not spacious. But I think it’s okay for a one and a half hour route. I can even stretch my legs. A drink holder, and a practical hook. The perfect drink holder for a plastic bottle. A USB port for each seat.

This is a strong point for expressway bus for Kokura. Please press the button when you wish to get off. The air conditioner overhead. A useful reading light for each seat. The Fukuoka Urban Expressway from Gofukumachi. What a beautiful day to enjoy the bus trip. The heavy traffic on the expressway in the morning.

Please be careful when you take the expressway bus. What is the fastest way to go to Kokura from Tenjin or Hakata? Well, the Shinkansen is the fastest, but expensive. The limited express train “Sonic” is faster than expressway bus. But, the expressway bus is better if you stay in Tenjin.
