We had a wonderful time at Biei’s cottage “Zawazawa Village in Spoon Valley”… I arrived in front of Biei Station. There are many bicycle rental shops around Biei Station. Electric bicycle rental for 1 day ¥3,000. All stores have almost the same price. Today we will spend the day cycling around Biei’s spectacular scenery.

The first one is here, about 5 minutes by bicycle from Biei Station. Biei Shrine. It has a summery look. Wind chimes are decorated throughout the shrine. Visit. It seems that you can write your wishes on the torches used at the festival. I wrote down my wish.

It’s a really beautiful shrine down to the smallest details. There was a rare fortune. A fortune shaped like corn grilled over charcoal. Select the fortune with tongs. It’s not hot at all though. It’s nice to be playful. Purchase a stamp book. It depicts the hills of Biei and is very beautiful!

I had a goshuin written. Next time I’ll go a little farther. Our destination is Hokkaido’s most spectacular view, “Blue Pond.” From here, enter the cycling road along the river. Many people go sightseeing in Biei by bicycle, and the roads are well maintained for easy riding.

It feels like running in nature. It feels good! I ran for about an hour. I’m taking a short break. This is “Roadside Station Biei Shirokane Birke.” There are hamburger shops and souvenir shops. There are blue products lined up in connection with the tourist destination “Blue Pond” that we will visit later.

Behind the shop is a rest area surrounded by greenery. I’m going to eat some. Croquette bread. Thick-sliced potatoes. Blue Pond Cider Float. Biei milk soft serve ice cream (comes with churros). This is my second time having soft serve ice cream on this trip.

Milk is delicious, so soft serve ice cream is also delicious! Fresh start. The blue pond is right there. arrival. Here is the most spectacular view of Biei! ! blue! It’s much bluer than I expected! Beautiful contrast with the blue sky.

Water containing aluminum flows in from upstream, producing invisible “colloidal particles” that scatter sunlight evenly. It is also fantastic to see dead trees still standing. There is only one store nearby. Soft-serve ice cream is also sold here. Aoike goods are sold inside the store.

I never get tired of looking at the beautiful cobalt blue. Now, it’s 17.9km to Biei Station. Let’s do our best and get back on the bike! The return trip is slightly downhill. Very easy. Cycling feels good! Return by rental bicycle from Biei’s scenic spot “Blue Pond”. A cycling course with typical Hokkaido scenery.

I returned to Biei Station. This time, go to the north side of Biei Station. Here you can see the scenery of the hills that symbolize Biei. The guy at the bicycle rental shop carefully showed us the recommended courses using a handmade map!

Following this, I will go around the northern part of Biei Station like this. The white flowers are buckwheat flowers. Arrived at the first sight. A spot called “Ken and Mary Tree”. This location was used in the Nissan Skyline commercial. The name “Ken and Mary’s Tree” comes from the performers. It’s big!

This area is called “Patchwork Hill” because of the landscape where fields of different colors, such as wheat fields and vegetable fields, line up alternately. beautiful! It’s a really nice area to cycle around. Arrived at the second sightseeing spot. “Seven Star Tree” This is a landscape used on cigarette packaging.

The tree that can be seen in the distance is commonly known as the “Oyako Tree.” There are various natural landscapes, but of course, the fields are privately owned, so you cannot enter them. Enjoy the scenery without interfering with field work. Arrived at final destination.

There is an observation deck. However, I was hungry so I went to the store first. Potato butter. Boiled asparagus. Potato mochi. Grilled corn. Asparagus and potatoes are both delicious! ! And this grilled corn. Fresh and sweet! It was the most delicious thing on this trip to Hokkaido! ! !

Go to the observation deck. You can see all the way to the city of Biei. Biei cycling has ended. Return to the city. Since I had time until my train, I stopped at the roadside station Biei “Oka no Kura”. Local vegetables and souvenirs are sold here.

“Biei’s Rusk”. The packaging is beautiful and it looks like it would make a good souvenir. Biei station. Furano/Biei “Norokko”. This is a trolley train that only runs from June to August. The time just happened to be right, so I’m going to Asahikawa. There were seats facing outward with a nice view.

I’m planning to go to Furano tomorrow on this “Norokko” train as well. At that time, I would like to take a closer look inside the train. I arrived at Asahikawa Station.

I changed my route due to the weather, so I have to travel a lot, but I think it’s okay because I still enjoy it. Today we will be staying at a business hotel in front of Asahikawa Station. “Hotel Amanek Asahikawa”. A very clean and stylish lobby.

As a welcome drink, you can freely use the drink bar, which includes coffee and tea. The amenities are styled so that you can take what you need. You cannot ride the elevator without your room key. No worries about security. Standard twin ¥7,200 (1 night with breakfast buffet/1 person). safe. electric kettle. refrigerator.

Room wear. The water area is also very clean. This hotel has a large public bath and a view bath on the top floor, so there is only a shower booth in the room. A business hotel with a large public bath is nice! I’m going into town for dinner.

As Hokkaido’s second largest city, there are many restaurants. After having a hard time deciding, I decided on this izakaya. Hokkaido specialty “Zangi”. Grilled scallops and potatoes with butter and soy sauce. This is an izakaya where you can fully enjoy Hokkaido’s specialties. Shop recommended burdock stick ¥530. Soft and delicious! !

Japanese-style fried rice with sea bream ¥730. Dashi-maki egg ¥680. I was riding my bike all day today, so the alcohol seeps into me. End of day 2. Hotel breakfast buffet. We don’t eat a lot of breakfast, so this is about it.

Speaking of hotels in Hokkaido, breakfast buffets are a must. It seems that there are also hotels in Asahikawa that offer more luxurious breakfast buffets. Salmon roe is not unlimited, but is served in small portions. It was popular and quickly disappeared. was delicious! ! I could feel Hokkaido.

Last day of Hokkaido trip. I’m heading to Furano to see the lavender. July is the best time to see lavender in Furano. It’s also melon season. From Asahikawa to Furano, take the Furano/Biei Norokko train. This sightseeing train runs for a limited time from June to August, and runs slowly to scenic spots.

This time I got a reserved seat. There are also unreserved seats where you can ride just by paying the regular fare. The interior of the train is decorated with lavender, creating a peaceful atmosphere.

There are seats facing the window where you can see the scenery perfectly, and seats facing each other where you can sit comfortably. To fully enjoy the view, a seat facing the window may be best. When checking the ticket, I was given a boarding certificate. It will be a memorial.

You will run through the vast landscape typical of Hokkaido. At Biei Station, I passed the regular Furano Line. An announcement was made to drive slowly because a house with a red roof could be seen. It seems to be visible for a moment.

Red roof in the hill. It’s a lovely scenery. It’s a bit far though. The window was open so I felt a strong breeze for about an hour. We arrived at Lavender Field Station, a temporary station where only the Norokko train stops. There are only fields around. After a short walk…

“Farm Tomita”. It is famous for its vast lavender fields. This is a very popular spot that tourists from Furano always come to this time of year. It looks like a lot of flowers other than lavender are blooming as well. Go to a simple observation deck. beautiful! They also sell various foods.

Eating lavender soft serve ice cream while looking out at the lavender fields. Easy to eat with a slight lavender scent. You can walk through the lavender fields. The scent of lavender doesn’t come from the fields as much as I expected. They sell something called lavender distilled water.

You can put it in your bath or spray it around your room. You can enjoy the slight scent of lavender. Let’s climb further up the sloping field. You can also see the town of Furano, which is a spectacular view! There are many places where you can take great photos.

Then, head to this attached facility. Tomita Melon House. You can eat cut melons and sweets in the natural surroundings of Furano. One drink for now. And, the melon looks great! ¥1,700. sweet! ! Super delicious! ! What a luxurious way to eat! I also bought a lot of melon sweets.

Green meat melon omelet ¥500. Red meat cream melon bread ¥290. Red meat melon pudding ¥380. You can choose melons with green meat or red meat, and compare them. delicious! ! Melon bread also has a strong scent!

You can also buy souvenir melons here and have them delivered. A theme park where you can truly spend time covered in melons! After spending some time covered in lavender and melons, we headed to the next location. I will use a taxi to save time.

The final destination of this trip is Shikisai no Oka. I get the impression that the farmers are doing it with a full handmade feel. The grounds are vast. You can go around it by buggy or tractor. Click here for a spectacular view of the large grounds!

A rainbow-colored carpet adorning the hill with colorful flower fields! Ride the tractor bus for one lap. Along the way, you will have time to stop and admire the scenery. A truly beautiful landscape, including the green hills in the back. There is also a field like this at the edge of the site.

A summery landscape. There are also alpaca farms where you can enter for an additional fee. Hide the bait out of sight and approach. Maybe after cutting the hair? There are some children who are not very fluffy. cute! I was healed! Shikisai no Oka. It was absolutely beautiful!

Head to Asahikawa Airport from the nearby bus stop. Miyama Pass. There is also a lavender field here. Arrived at Asahikawa Airport. Souvenir time. There are quite a lot of shops. When you think of Hokkaido, you think of Royce chocolate.

Since we still had time, we had our last Hokkaido meal at the food court. Scallop crab salmon roe bowl ¥1,900. Baikoken Ramen ¥900. It was a summer trip to Hokkaido, and it was a great choice to choose Biei/Furano! There are many spectacular natural views, and the local food is delicious!

It was a trip where I was able to fully experience the charms of Hokkaido.
