Cycling Japan, Gravel Ride in Wakayama 和歌山県 – Bike Tour & Camping on the Kii Peninsula 紀伊半島

In November, we took a road trip to the Kii Peninsula 紀伊半島 to ride bikes in Wakayama, Mie, and Nara Prefectures. We got to go camping in Kawayu Onsen and bike on some amazing gravel roads!

So far, I’ve finished making a video about the first half of our weekend: on day 1 we biked from Nabari in Mie Prefecture, and on day 2 we went from Kawayu Onsen to Shirahama on the Pacific Ocean coast.

In November, Zeb and I drove to Japan’s Kii  Peninsula to go biking and camping in Wakayama Prefecture this area is maybe most known for the  Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail, since the peninsula is a sacred place in Buddhism Shinto and Shugendo  religions.

We got to bike on gravel roads through lush forests with colorful fall foliage, see the Pacific Ocean and white sand beaches in Shirahama and even got a lift from a friendly construction worker all on the same day’s ride. During the weekend we were camping in Kawayu Onsen

Where we could  soak in the natural hot spring after our rides. I didn’t really know what to expect on this weekend trip but the cycling and the natural beauty in this area is really impressive. I made a longer video about the first two days on my YouTube

And I’ll have a second part finished soon. If you want to watch it you can see it on the Channel, “Anniewhere and Everywhere.” and the leaves are peaking it’s  really it’s nice out here. I’m very impressed with Wakayama
