Travel Day: Melbourne to Japan | Japan Trip Day 1 | October 14th +15th 2023

Welcome to a new travel series – the Japan vlogs! Come with us as we travel to Japan for our Honeymoon.

We went for 18 days and travelled across Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Nagoya!

First up is our travel day from Melbourne, Australia to Haneda Airport in Tokyo. We went via Sydney and then direct from Sydney to Haneda. On our first day we explore the Ginza and Shibuya areas including a trip to the Disney Store, Nintendo Store and Ichiran Ramen.

Yeah May hello we’re at the airport it’s travel day and we’re hungry so we’ve just finished security and we’re just waiting for boarding which just not for a while um but we’ve got some Prett Jacks to eat there’s not really much to get around here our flight is

Actually in two parts so we’re actually doing a domestic flight to Sydney first and and then we are going Sydney to Hana so options are a bit more limited here as opposed to what we would have in international terminal but I’ve got a Juni wa with cheese and some chips and

Just bottle water I’m going to eat something and then I’ll give you a little bit of a update on our trip just go there I’m back had something to eat I’m feeling pretty good Hungry Jacks was average but sometimes you just need some food so yeah I thought I would while

We’ve got some downtime because it’s currently almost 3:00 and our boarding is not till 4:50 so we’ve got like an hour and 50 minutes to kill I figured I would tell you a bit about our trip so we’re actually going to Japan for our honeymoon 6 months later so if you

Watched the previous Vlogs in Hawaii where we got married this is part two to that which is our honeymoon I know that was kind of a holiday in itself but we thought Japan’s one of our favorite places in the world so why not make any

Excuse to get back there we wanted to go back since 2020 and sadly that trip got cancelled so yeah we’re finally on our way back to Japan which is really exciting so in terms of our travel plans for today we are heading over to Sydney first which is only like an hour and

Something quite very quick and then after we get to Sydney we have to trans it to the international terminal terminal and then we’re heading from Sydney to Hana the flight from Sydney to Hana is 10 hours and 5 minutes so not that much longer than a direct flight

From Melbourne so it’s not too bad we did apply for business upgrades um cuz we have reward seats sa we did not get them for any of our flights which is you know would have been nice like dlan’s got to fly Business Class A few times to

Work I’ve never been so oh well it’s fine we’re happy to just be traveling together and be heading back to one of our favorite places in the world so I will come back to you when it’s time to board and I’m Excited that how’s the view let me just look at the oh oh where where’s I thought you got the window I thought I where where’s the window it’s Oh A He We’ve officially arrived in Tokyo um it’s been a very not eventful but just like a a hectic start to the day so we arrived earlier than expected I think we got in about 45 we meant to get in at like 520 went through customs and everything

It took it was a pretty long line but it didn’t take too long went to go redeem our Jr pass but the office doesn’t actually open till 6:45 and at the time it was like 5:30 5:4 it was like an hour and 40 minutes until the the Jr office

Opened so we kind of said let’s get back to that later we don’t need it straight away and the train that we had to catch to get to our hotel actually isn’t on the Jr line anyway so we have the weer card so yeah we we caught a train from

Hana to close to our hotel which is located in ginar um and it’s raining outside which I’ll show you in a second it’s raining quite heavily so we didn’t have any umbrella or anything so we got pretty soaked walking here um my hair’s starting to go a bit curly as well but

That’s fine we just got to our hotel we’re staying at the Coco hotel in ginsa it’s currently 7:30 a.m. we can’t check in until 3: just dropped off our bags and we’re just freshening up a little bit before we head out to go find some food potentially I will show you in a

Second but they have a really good like amenities kind of help yourself section out the front of the hotel where like you can get toothbrushes and like hair brushes hair ties like whatever you need I think is so cool I was planning to like get changed into like some leggings

And just change a little bit but considering how wet it is outside I might just stay like in this outfit until we check in and I can you know access my other clothes so yeah I’m I’m excited to be here um it’s been a a long journey I actually slept pretty well on

The plane I think for once which is uncommon for me one downside to getting here so early is that things don’t open super early here in Tokyo especially in the Sunday so so we wanted to go to this pancake place called a happy pancake which we went to last time it’s like big

Fluffy pancakes they don’t open till 10:00 and it’s so so we’ve still got quite a bit of time so we’re going to see if we can find anything that’s open within the next half an hour or so or otherwise maybe we could just grab a coffee and then hold off to breakfast

And see how we go but yeah I’m going to go freshen up now and I will be back soon also this is my new Vlog setup which I haven’t been able to show you because I’m filming on it but it’s it’s a bit bigger um than what we were using but

I’m hoping it’ll be a good experience we also got a new little microphon so I’m hoping that will help with the audio um since I’m in the bathroom I thought I would just quickly show you just in case you haven’t seen a Japanese toilet before um so that’s a regular toilet

That’s like a pday kind of system and then you’ve got all these like butt I’m not going to press anything but there’s ones for like noise and stuff like like a water sound and stuff when you go to the toilet it’s it’s really fascinating but anyway I’m not here to

Use the toilet I’m here to brush my teeth and get brush it up so I’m going to do That Pokémon told me that this is a jelly Donut This shit’s good we’re at Starbucks our first stop of the day after 71 and look at this it’s called the boo Frappuccino is like a special Halloween drink that they have they don’t have pumpkin spice latte anymore they did have it for like a select time but I think they sold out so

I was like this is the next best thing so um the sauce is supposed to be like a bit of caramel sauce and there’s like a pumpkin pudding apparently at the bottom but yeah I was like I’m feeling adventurous let’s try something new so I’m going to try it so let’s do It Oh that’s really nice it’s very very interesting I don’t think you’ll like I think you’ll hate it cuz it’s like so sweet do you want to sip it it tastes like almost like maple syrup a little bit I really like it it’s very very Different Hello everyone it’s back for another exciting episode of Dill meates magic just had a delicious meal of eggs and things about to venture back into the rain who knows what else maybe try to find a cap up who knows we’ll see oh there was a shop or something you

Tails just looks so much cu these are like Chopstick holders and it’s like little Ramen set it’s really really cute JY for the fries for the Fri they F I’ve never seen any of these Des oh I love that One these Collectibles oh look at the one this sauce from Mi sauce from Mi some Mermaid we got this actually in Australia merma collection I don’t think I’ve seen any this makeup is like so Underrated At this story factly incorrect though Toy Story 2 was on PlayStation one but they would Super Nintendo controller the first Toy Story game was on Super Nintendo but not the second actually I’m pretty sure this Is one patches not that bad either very cute A I I just want to say one thing and it’s um understand this when you review your footage later but I did find One [Applause] He’s made of rubber how did did that Happen hello we are at Ramen uh for lunch we’ve been lining up since got here at like 1:30 it’s like 2:5 now it’s taking a little while but um we were really Keen to try this place so we’re here and basically you once you get in

You can order via a vending machine and they give you all a ticket you can customize how spicy and how you want your Ramen um yeah so we’re just waiting now for our ramen to come and I might just show you like the little setup so you can see it’s like

I just got the was my special but I did make it bit spicy I think got the same did you get the same also an update on the uh grian situation I was lining up and it was going to be like half an hour to get to

The checkout and then I Googled the price cuz I couldn’t actually there was no price on it and I Googled it and I was like somewhere between 40 to 50 bucks um that I could find some places had it cheaper but I couldn’t find it an official price and I was just

Like I don’t think I can justify 45 on a plush right now we’ll see how they’re feeling later in the holiday but had to leave it behind sadly was not worth It tastes like ay it’s the Beer Baron it’s not bad give us 10 it’s 7 and a half amaz Okay I’m just finished up that was Bloody delicious perfect amount of spicy like I think we probably could have handled spicier but I was scared to go any spicier than that’s a spicy level but my sinuses are clear my belly is full and best part is like it only cost us like

So we probably have to make our way back to ginsel which is where our hotel is probably take a bit of time and should work out bang on 3:00 so let’s go let’s go check out our hotel got my ice cream I don’t know how I’m

Going to eat this I think I’m just going to try and lick it cuz the spoon’s like just move it out of the way oh so nice it’s so creamy it’s like like milk powder like oh it’s it’s melting I got to eat it he every B every single one every flavored Burger

Room I I’ll just take it like it’s not going to be a very exciting room to because Japanese Japanese uh hotel rooms are quite small so you can basically see our room come here get suitcases in thank you one sec yes this is the big room

Tour we’ve got a bed and some pajamas I think we’ve got a little desk and a chair as well and then we’ve got the toilet shower shower toilet and shower hello hey and that’s it it’s a very budget friendly hotel but we were only here for one night so we figured it

Was good value but also like not trash so yeah that’s it what you looking at know just information anyway it’s been a very long day for us um turn around we’ve been up since oh no we landed at like 4:45 it’s like what’s the time

Now 4 p.m. um it is 3:50 yeah basically 400 p.m. and we haven’t we’ve been out all day we’re exhausted our feet hurt so we’re just going to like have a bit of a lie down you know just recharge for a little bit and then start thinking about

Dinner a bit later but I think we’re we’re due for a rest so we’re going to do that and we’ll be back soon hello good evening evening is the right night I don’t know anyway um so last time I came to you we were we just got back to the

Hotel after like a very flat out day we were wrecked just wanted to put our feet up and relax for a little bit and that ended up turning into a bit of a nap so I think we both needed it cuz we we just we slept on the plane but like four 5

Hours sleep is not enough to kind of like function so we had a bit of a nap I need to get up at like 6:30 it’s now 7:30 woke up at like 7:00 um just lying around and taking our time to get ready but we are now we’re going to head out

And grab some dinner we’re going to a place that was actually recommended by friend um shout out to Ash and Liv uh it’s called kuraku in Ginza um and they specialize on like Yakitori kind of style food so we’re going to go check it out it’s actually not too far from our

Hotel 3 minute walk so super close and see how that goes in terms of what we’re doing after dinner I don’t really have anything planned I guess we’ll we’ll play it by ear but you know wouldn’t mind like you know just washing the day off and getting into some pajamas and

Just chilling out for the night tomorrow we don’t have a solid plan until later in the day we’ll be heading to Tokyo Disney so it’s pretty relaxed like in terms of plans but um yeah I think we’re just going to head out grab some dinner and then see how we feel afterwards so

So let’s go a seat a seat I think you made a thr for the king for the king Yes So if you come here you can get you can either do like a course like hes where you can do between like 5 to 9 skewers and like 10 to 16 courses all up with like little salads and appetizers and things we went for the alart option just

Cuz we weren’t sure how hungry we were going to be and so each option on the menu is like one serve so we got like two servings of everything except the chicken meatballs there’s a lot of things on here that I guess I was reluctant to try just cuz I haven’t

Eaten that particular part of meat before so I don’t know for free connoisseurs they’ll probably know um what’s good and what’s not but like you know there’s like chicken kiles there’s chicken hearts chicken skin chicken gizzards like that kind of thing whereas I kind of stay to what I knew okay first

One we’re trying is the chicken thigh with a green onion M that’s really good it’s really yummy next up we have the chicken breast with Wasabi just going to take it off the skewer oh sa goes well T Nice I don’t know what’s on these appetizers but they all seem really good what this chicken meat ball he’s just taking one off I’m just going to try one of them comes with this little teeny tiny this is teeny johy cup and it has

Like a I think it’s like an egg yolk in there I’m going to pour a little bit on mine Okay it it Go I if I had a chicken meatball before sure beef but tastes good and tastes good with like the egg sauce as well some plum wine to drink I’ve always loved mine ever since we first tried it in I think our first trip to Japan was the first time I had

It and it’s like it’s really nice you easily drink three or four glasses of that and just like it just so it’s so sweet and like nice it’s kind of like I can’t even compare it to something it’s like similar to like a like a Moscato like

Rosé kind of thing but it’s just more fruity and I really love it I love getting it when I come here and our last skewer which is the Beef skirt that one off T really good not sure that one’s my favorite all the Babi the chicken VI

With Babi I mean chicken breast I think one of those two would be my favorite but this is quite nice the more I eat this I think this is my favorite one everything that we picked was really really good um yeah I really enjoyed everything that we Ordered D 8 P.M if you come in it’s all like reduced 100 y decent H Boy what you got there hug and DS I’m scared good in Japan in Japan hello we’re back from dinner it’s still it’s not too late what time is it 9:30 it’s not not super late had a really good dinner really enjoyed the uh Yakitori place and we what did we do after that

We just walked up and down like the main strip of like um like the a shopping like area just checked everything out most things were closed like we got to unicone it was about to close so didn’t really go inside or anything but it’s still really cool to

See it all lit up and everything I don’t think I really explored ginso much at all if anything last time we came so it was really cool and then we just popped down to the family Mar to pick up some things Dyan got his Ice Cream Sandwich

Got some water and yeah I think we’re going to have a shower I want to wash my hair so just like kind of wind down call it a night so I thought I’d do a little wrap up now before I forget um but yeah it’s been a very busy first day in Japan

We got a lot done but we’re so tired as well so I’m looking forward to having a good night’s sleep um and we’re just going to sort out what we’re doing tomorrow so we’ll eventually be heading to Tokyo Disney Resort Um but like most places you can’t check until 3: so it probably won’t be till about that time or at least like an hour or also before to after for travel time and so we just got to figure out what we’re going to do in the morning which
