I flew into Fukuoka. Yufuin, Beppu, Okayama, and Kurashiki, Tokyo, Chiba, Hakone, Izumo, Aomori, Sapporo, Otaru, Biei, Furano, Omia, Nishimaizuru, Amanohashidate, Kyoto, Nagoya, Osaka, Inefunaya, Miyama, Kobe And now to my final destination hello. This is Journeyman. I’m at Narita Airport in Japan.

I’ve been traveling across Japan and am on my way to my final destination for this trip. I’ve traveled to many countries in the world, but I’ve rarely been to Japan. I’ve been here twice, once this year and once 10 years ago. I wanted to travel to Japan properly.

So, I decided that I would just go around the country, and I went around the country. The trip lasted almost exactly one month. On this trip around Japan, I visited about 25 cities. I calculated the distance traveled. Approximately 13,000 kilometers.

Japan’s JR PASS (JAPAN RAIL PASS) provides unlimited rides on JR trains. I bought a JR PASS and traveled mostly by train. I purchased a JR PASS for three weeks. As of right now, my three weeks are up.

So now I have a rough summary of how I’ve been utilizing JR PASS. Note that I made my purchase on the last day in late September, before the JR PASS price went up. That’s why JR PASS 3-Share First Class is called Green Class. I made the purchase for $577.

The price is probably a little higher now. I’ve traveled about 6,775 kilometers by train using only JR PASS. And the travel time is about 4,300 minutes. So how much would it have cost without JR PASS? Search for this route on Google Maps, I can see the fare there.

So I went ahead and did the math. If I had taken the train at a regular fare, I would have spent $1,350. I spent $577 and rode $1,350 worth of trains. I’ve definitely made a profit. That’s the way to understand it. I rode really hard.

If you’re staying in one area, there’s a regional pass. Hokkaido has the Hokkaido Pass Kyushu has the Kyushu Pass. Since my goal for this trip was to circumnavigate the entire country of Japan, I decided to use the

I bought a Japan-wide JR PASS that allows you to go anywhere. There are two types of JR PASS: first class and economy class. Based on the reviews, I’d definitely buy first class. The price difference isn’t that big.

I bought first class because I was told that there were a lot of benefits. As a result, I was very satisfied. There were plenty of seats available, and the ticketing process was very easy. The seats were very spacious and had recliners. I was able to move around very easily.

I think it was a good use of JR PASS. If I’m going on a long trip somewhere, I usually take a picture on the day I leave. I’m nearing the end of my trip right now, so I thought

I thought it would be good to summarize and get started. I’m going on a trip! Not like this. This feels like a trailer for a trip around Japan? So, just to give you a quick recap. First of all, there’s a lot of cities that we’ve visited.

So for the amount of time that I had I’ve been to about 25 cities. I was on the road almost every day. I was on the move a lot. You can see that Roughly speaking, the cities I’ve visited I entered the country in Fukuoka, and then Yufuin, Beppu, Okayama, and Kurashiki,

Tokyo, Chiba, Hakone, Izumo, Aomori, Sapporo, Otaru, Biei, Furano, Omia, Nishimaizuru, Amanohashidate, Kyoto, Nagoya, Osaka, Inefunaya, Miyama, Kobe And to the last destination I’m on my way to I’ve been to a lot of places I also had to move hotels every day I’ve got almost 20 places to stay.

So it wasn’t really easy. I chose hotels, hostels, and capsule hotels based on the situation. I also took a sleeping train and a sleeping bus. I’ve also been known to crash at the homes of friends and acquaintances. Some days, like today, I sleep rough at the airport.

I have to find a place to stay every day, and I have to check in, and I have to check out. I had to carry a lot of luggage again. It was really not easy. This trip was all about getting from city to city.

Traveling around Japan in a month? This is because I didn’t really know much about Japan. I was brave for being ignorant. I think it was. If I knew anything about Japan, I would never have said that I would drive around the country in a month.

I wouldn’t have thought, Japan is a much bigger country than I thought. I think it’s because I was traveling with JR PASS that I really enjoyed the train ride. You had a free pass to go to places like Disneyland.

You could go on all the rides with one free pass. It’s the same. That’s why I can ride all the JR trains whenever I want. Shinkansen trains, JR local trains, all of them, unlimited rides. Of course, not all trains in Japan are free.

Almost all of them are, and now you can ride almost any train in Japan with a JR PASS, so how exciting is that? Japan is a real railroad kingdom. I felt this again. Wow, there are so many different types of trains, so many different personalities.

There are all kinds of different trains. So I took a lot of JR trains in different areas. Sometimes there are trains that cannot be used with JR PASS. When I went to rural areas, there were trains like that. The oldest train in Japan

And the kind of train where you can drink sake while they grill squid over a coal stove and you can drink sake on the train. And there are trains that run on rivers. And there are trains that run through the mountains. I’ve been on all of them.

And Japan’s last remaining sleeping train One of the things I most wanted to do on my recent trip around Japan. It was to take the sleeping train, and I ended up taking the sleeping train and it was such a great experience.

Probably not a lot of people have seen my YouTube from before, I used to take a sleeping train in the United States called Amtrak. I spent 20 hours on the Canadian train, Via Rail. I mean, I loved those train trips. But in Japan, I took all kinds of different trains.

Seriously, out of all the places I’ve been in the world, Japan is the kingdom of trains. The sleeping train was a round trip. To get from Tokyo to a town called Izumo in the countryside and back to Tokyo again, we need to use the

So when I go, I get a private room, which is what we call a single room, and then I go to the And then when I come back, there’s a class called Nobi Nobi, which is like a dormitory bed. And then there’s the subway, which runs underground.

There’s a lot more subways that run above ground. And I took the tram in some areas. In Korea, I’ve never seen a tram. I’ve always wanted to ride a tram because it’s sentimental. In Okayama, Sapporo, and Kyoto. I took the tram. It was so nice.

There’s definitely a local flavor to that tram. It was a very different experience. In Chiba, there was a monorail that was suspended in the sky. I rode that. In Hakone, there’s a mountain train.

I’ve been on that, too, where you go up a very steep mountain on a mountain train. And I’ve been to rural towns and ridden gondolas or chairlifts or whatever that go up mountains. And I’d go on a boat. So I’ve ridden everything I can in Japan.

I really rode everything. I’m driving around Japan right now. I have arrived at the final destination of my trip around Japan. Let’s keep talking about traveling, I love to wander. So I’ve been to a lot of places. I’ve had a lot of experiences.

I’ve seen, heard, felt, and experienced so much And I made a video of the whole process. And I’m really excited to share it with you on video. I’ve been traveling for about a month now, so there’s been some highs and lows.

So just to kind of summarize, the hardest part was because I’m a person who thinks of transportation as a journey. So I really enjoy the process of traveling. I’ve done a lot of traveling, which is really exhausting, even for me. I had a hard time with that part.

I’m traveling from city to city almost every day, so there’s a lot of things that I have to search for and book. I have to keep checking train times to make sure I’m on time. I have to find a place to stay, because hotels change all the time.

I’m looking for a hotel as close to the train station as possible. Or a good, relatively inexpensive hotel And I think there’s a lot of things that you can do what to do in the area,

I’m not gonna be in one area for a long time. It’s a short trip. I’m trying to figure out what I’m gonna do with all of that. I’m trying to figure out what I want to do. I had to look for it almost every single day.

It wasn’t just traveling. Because we have to shoot. I’ve spent two to three hours in places I could have spent an hour exploring. I need to capture as much good footage as possible. It’s going to be a bit of a pain in the ass to edit.

I think it’s a great way to get better content And there’s a lot of transfers, so it’s hard. This is basic stuff. It’s very complicated. Transferring in a big city is like 30 different platforms. There are places like this where the train platforms are numbered 1 through 30.

Rather, these places look very complicated. Train time, train number, and train name. It’s on the ticket. So that’s all I need to do is look at the board and confirm that, and then I’ll go. Google Maps also tells me to go to the platform a couple times.

So I cross-check it, and then I go there, and I’m on time. The problem is that some of the smaller stations have fewer platforms. There are places where multiple lines share a platform. Trains keep coming every minute So I’ve been known to ask people.

It was really complicated to make the transfer. I can’t believe how complicated this is. I’m going to respec them. And one of the things that was difficult was Group tours. I’m supposed to be filming.

So it needs to be a little less crowded, and it needs to be quiet so there’s no unnecessary sounds. If you go to a famous place, you know, there’s group tourists. Hundreds of people come. And then you have to actually stop filming.

Until I’ve seen them all and they’re gone. I just have to be there. I have to wait. I didn’t see many Westerners on this trip around the country. It was almost all Koreans, Chinese, and Japanese. They were almost 90% of the population.

Also, by the way, how loud are the Chinese people? I’m not demeaning them. I lived in China for a while. so I know a little bit about Chinese culture. Their culture needs to speak loudly. But there are a hundred loud people coming. It gets really hard.

But there’s a rival. A group of Korean elderly tourists are coming. They’re not quieter than Chinese people. Wow really wow…….. This is a joke. But for the purposes of filming, it’s a really hard part for me. I’m talking about episodes like that.

I think I took two bus tours. One time I was really surprised that they all spoke Chinese. But why is it so quiet? And now we’re eating, and there’s another guy there by himself. And he was eating at the table with me, and I asked him.

Where are you from? He said he was from Taiwan. Isn’t everyone here Chinese? No, it’s mostly Taiwanese. I’ve never been to Taiwan, so I didn’t know much about it. but it was pretty quiet. I realized that their personalities are very different.

On the other hand, Japanese people are really quiet. This was the hardest part for me personally The couples… I’m traveling alone. I mean, loneliness is kind of basic. But I didn’t feel it at first. And then I went to Hokkaido.

It was just snowing, and it was so romantic and beautiful. I’m like, “Wow, this is good. I look around and it’s all couples. There were a lot of situations where the loneliness was kind of amplified. They even say that soup curry is good in Sapporo.

My acquaintances have been eating it for years. I went to eat. I saw a soup curry house. It was 100% Korean couples, except for me. So the soup curry was really good. But it was a quick meal and it came out quickly.

Soup curry is pretty much a bad memory for me. And then you go to Biei, you go to Furano, you go to Otaru. It’s all couples, so we cut the Hokkaido itinerary by one day. This is definitely not a place for a guy to come alone.

It’s not unnatural for a woman to come alone, but for two women to come together. A man coming alone? Two men don’t belong there. So this is not the place for me. Even in Kyoto, there were so many couples.

It’s really kind of nice, but this place is really beautiful and I want to go there. I left a lot of those places untouched. If I were to travel to Japan with my girlfriend someday. I’ve made a concession to myself in the future to go then.

It’s an episode, but there were some difficulties like this? And the funny thing is Whether I’m going to eat, whether I’m going to a cafe, whether I’m going to buy a ticket. Japanese people keep speaking to me in Japanese. So, like it’s so natural.

I think there were a lot of people who thought I was Japanese. When they talk to me in Japanese. Make a face I don’t recognize They keep talking in Japanese even when I give them a look that I don’t understand. So I tell them I’m not Japanese. ‘Ah~’, ‘Eh?

You know, these reactions. Do I look like a Japanese person? But because of that, I never felt out of place wherever I went. I didn’t feel like I was a tourist, so I felt very comfortable. There was another episode like that.

And then finally, if I think back on some of the good things, I think that There was a lot of really, really good food. I really like soba noodles. and I was able to try so many different kinds of soba, Other Japanese food was also very good.

Usually when you travel, you have to struggle with food. But in Japan, the food was a plus. It was not a negative factor. I personally find that when traveling in the United States or Canada, I tend to stress a lot about food.

I’ve been eating a lot, and I’ve been feeling a lot of things. Food prices are high, tips are burdensome, and I’ve been traveling a bit and I’m feeling a little tired. The food in Japan is pretty much perfect And everywhere I go, the Koreanization patches are pretty good.

Especially on public transportation and things like that, it’s almost always written in Korean. I once went to a train station in the countryside. I was surprised to see It was one of those train stations with only one or two platforms.

But even there, the signs were all in Korean. I was really surprised. And the best part was the train. Japan really is a country of trains. This country is more serious about trains than I imagined. The identity is well reflected in the name of the train.

There are so many pretty designs. When I was in Korea, I used to see trains as just a way to get around. When I took a train in the United States or Canada, it was just a train. If it was a design that didn’t go beyond what was expected.

Japan is so diverse. I finally got around to visiting the train museum. Now, we’ll get to the content later, but this is a serious train country. I realized that Japanese people have a tendency to care a lot about other people.

And on the other hand, principles are really important. I have a couple of my own episodes. I’m going to show you my content later, but There were a lot of twists and turns. And when it was all worked out.

Their attitude was warm, then cold, then warm, then cold. Do you feel like this? From the perspective of a slightly free-spirited Korean Can’t they be a little more flexible? There were some things that were a little disappointing at times.

However, there are certain characteristics that are unique to Japan, such as craftsmanship. I think at the end of the day, those things are built on a culture that’s very principled.

I was able to learn more about their culture, which is a little bit different from ours that they have that we don’t. It’s all about different mindsets and different cultures. It was nice to feel and experience and experience a lot of those other things.

That’s what I was thinking. I felt like we were going on a journey together for once in the new year. I hope you can watch the videos that will be released in the future. It’s free to subscribe. Please tap subscribe and enjoy.
