π Hello! Today, Jiji goes to Otaru! We are in Sapporo for the holidays and we decided to do a day trip to Otaru since it was being recommended by a lot of people online. It took us about an hour by train to get here. Before we started our walk, we had some food and sake πΆ We don’t normally drink, because Jiji can’t handle alcohol well 𫨠However we wanted to try it since we are here and since it is very cold outside βοΈ At some point in the video, Jiji also fell. Not because of the sake, but because the ground is covered in ice and it’s very slippery~
π Otaru is a charming port city located on the island of Hokkaido, Japan. Known for its picturesque canal and well-preserved historical buildings, Otaru is a popular destination for tourists seeking a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural richness. Here are some key locations you might want to visit in Otaru:
πΆ Otaru Canal: The Otaru Canal is one of the most iconic and picturesque spots in the city. Lined with stone warehouses, the canal offers a romantic atmosphere, especially in the evening. Strolling along the canal is a must, and you can also take a boat cruise to enjoy the scenery from the water.
π Sakaimachi Street: This historic street is lined with preserved merchant houses and shops. It’s a great place to explore and experience the nostalgic atmosphere of Otaru. You’ll find a variety of shops selling glassware, music boxes, and local sweets. (Look up: Otaru Music Box Museum & Otaru Glassworks)
π Otaru Tenguyama: For panoramic views of Otaru and the surrounding areas, take a trip to Tenguyama. You can reach the summit by cable car and enjoy breathtaking views, especially during the winter when the landscape is covered in snow.
πͺΌ Otaru Aquarium: This aquarium, also known as the Otaru Sea Story, is located near the Otaru Canal. It features exhibits showcasing marine life in the Sea of Japan, including seals, penguins, and various fish species.

Hello! Today, Jiji goes to Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan. We just had some sake so we apologize for any shaky parts during this walk πΆπ Oh no! Jiji just fell. But it’s not because she’s drunk but because it’s slippery π This is the Otaru Music Box Museum.
