Do not Americans see the dumb irony of many of them calling themselves African-American or Irish-American or whaterever-American, and yet most Americans seem to know very few true facts about Africa, Ireland, or most other nations or continents which they seem to want to openly and proudly claim a family or social connection to.
YES THE QUESTION IS STUPID. Weather in Australia is 9C degrees here in Tasmania and snow on the mountain tops in the north west though its the start of summer and a top of 22C today. Perth Western Australia had 37C. A country almost the size if USA and asking the weather. Ummm which state, which part of the state.?
Most sense makes lowest to highest or the other way. Mixing makes no sense.

Ever thought about exchanging the position of the x10 and x 100 or minutes and hours?
The ISO standards specifiy year, then month then day, then time in 24hr format. Forget the time bit for a sec, but this makes it much easier to sort a series of files and such into a proper order, as like the decimal number system the biggest units, years, comes first as four digits or maybe two, then next biggest, months as two digits, then day of month as two digits, and then if further subdivision us needed comes hours, two digits, then minutes, two digits, then seconds, two digits or more with a decimal point and then decimal fractions of seconds if needed. One can use the normal slashes between date units and colons for time units but this is not always necessary or even benefical.

It wasn’t a stupid question about the weather. Some countries have warmer climates and some have colder. She could have talked about the range of temperatures and the amount of sunshine/rainfall etc., that different parts of the country get during different seasons. That’s what I would have done, if someone asked me about my country. It’s quite ignorant to assume that she thought the whole country had the same weather as one of your other commenters had assumed!
To be fair, my story is from 2003 before YouTube was that well used. I was visiting Sydney from my home state of Queensland that December. I was having a nice conversation with a couple of American ladies. One of them asked me, "Does it ever cold here?" So I replied,"Yes, around the time of your summer."
