Miyazaki to Kobe. 12-hour ferry trip. Please watch! Hello! I’m in front of Miyazaki station. Going to Kobe tonight by ferry. First I take the bus to the ferry terminal. Bus stops lined up in front of the station. Miyazaki station building. Below that… Large tangerine post. Also check access from ticket gate.

Specialty ekiben “Shiitake mushroom rice.” Miyazaki is full of delicious food. To Takachiho exit (west exit). Outside, bus stops are lined up. Walk straight out the exit. West #2 bus stop. The pattern on the wall is Kobe tartan. To the 3rd floor of the ferry. Best regards. This is the lobby on the 3rd floor. The information desk is open. Stairwell from 3rd to 4th floor. Rest area around staircase. My cabin is a “Dormitory.” Booked online for $75. 3rd floor corridor to bow side.

Passing through the washbasin space. This large room. Capacity is 20 people. This is my capsule. Upper and lower capsules. I’ll take a closer look later. 15 minutes before departure. Onboard facilities will follow later. From the 4th floor corridor, to outside deck. 4th floor port side. To aft. Bright blue. Disconnected rampway.

Let’s take a closer look at the capsule. This is the lower capsule. The only amenity is a towel. Luggage space under capsule. Mattress is thin. Life vests inside staircase. Passengers set their own sheets. You might notice footsteps in the corridor. View from pillow side. Hanger on hook. Light and outlet.

Air vent adjustable for air volume and direction. Curtains closed. View from outside. Capsules lined up in the large room. This is the innermost capsule. Capacity of 20 with about 5 passengers. View from upper level. This distance from the next capsule. Upper or lower, which do you prefer?

Upper requires going up and down stairs. Lower may be noisy with footsteps. Washbasin space in the middle of the corridor. Eight washbasins total. Can get a little crowded in the morning. Information desk in the lobby on the 3rd floor. Restaurant in the back. Open 6:30-8:30 p.m. Dinner buffet $12. Roast beef and Salad.

Potatoes, Chicken nuggets, Fried bean curd. Neapolitan, Egg with starchy sauce. Meatballs, Chikuzen-ni. Shumai, Steamed dumpling and Pickled horse mackerel. Simmered bamboo shoots, Cooked rice. Soba noodles with soup. Miso soup, Curry. Rice and Pickles. Pudding, Cakes. Draft beer $3.5. Counter seats facing windows. I’ll have it with a lot of food. Not so crowded.

Back to the information desk again. Stamp commemorating embarkation. Store next door. Souvenirs from Kobe. Souvenirs from Miyazaki. Original goods. Daily necessities. Miyazaki is famous for its sweet potato shochu. Alcohol and snacks. Snacks of Exeggutor. Bustling with group passengers. Coin-returnable lockers. Refrigerated lockers $1.5. Free lockers for valuables. Large luggage storage. Locked at night.

Shared restrooms. Accessible restroom. Wheelchair accessible. Elevator on board. From the 3rd floor to the 4th floor. Wheelchair-accessible corridor. Rest area facing windows. Egg-shaped handrail for easy grasping. Safe even in a rocking cabin. Kids’ space on the 4th floor. Nursing room available. Grand bath on 4th floor. Lockers are coin returnable.

Open until 10 p.m. at night. Washing area and bathtub separated by a wall. Effective use of space. Large windows facing the sea. The ferry isn’t rocking much. Shampoos are always available. Shower room next door. Open all the time. Spacious shower booth. Separate dressing area. Late night on board. View from the 4th floor.

Event space in the middle of stairs. Take a look at the other cabins. “Premium Twin” $150. Premium Barrier-free” $150. “First twin” $110. Lots of doors lined up. “Single” $90. Large room with capacity of 16 persons. “Tourist” $60. Space for wheelchair. This stool would be useful. “Dormitory” on 4th floor.

One difference from the 3rd floor. Accordion curtains installed. Quiet inside the room. To outside deck. Ferry off Cape Ashizurimisaki. It is pitch black outside the ferry. Orion in the sky. And the winter triangle. Again to the lobby on the 3rd floor. Most passengers returned to their cabins. Rest area in front of TV.

Vending machines. Water heater on 4th floor. Lockers here… For bicycles only. And rockers for surfboards. Rest area on 3rd floor. Passengers are free to read these books. Agatha Christie, J. R. R. Tolkien, etc. Smoking room next door. Let’s go back to the lobby. Very few passengers. Mini-tables surrounding the staircase. The event space.

Live music on weekends. Can also be viewed from the 4th floor. From the 3rd floor to the 4th floor. Game corner. Crane games and coin games. Spacious space. Next time, be sure to watch live music! Back to the cabin. No accordion curtains. Good night… Ferry is off the coast of Wakayama.

Large and small ships coming and going. Fishing boats at high speed. Early morning funnel. The wake extends. Sky to the east.

Mountains of Kobe. Kobe cityscape Sailor on the move. Dog terrace. Doggie waits for sunrise too? More and more ships. Kobe is a port town with a long history. Kobe Airport approach light bridge. Lots of aircraft. You can see the runway. Sky just before sunrise. Clouds on horizon. Ship departing from Kobe.

That is a bulk carrier. People waiting for sunrise. Sky burning orange. The Kobe Sky Bridge. Red lighthouse to starboard. Sky to the east. The upper edge of the sun is visible. Red lighthouse and sun. Ferry heads into harbor. Sunrise on the horizon is lovely. But this kind of sunrise is also worth seeing.

The sun with its lower edge hidden by clouds. Slowly rising. 30 seconds uncut. It was perfect timing before we arrived. The Port Island is on the left. Northern half completed in 1981. At the time, it was the largest man-made island in the world. Southern half completed in 2010.

Landing operations begin. Sailors on standby. Tension before landing on wharf. Terminal on the jetty. Rampway is red and white like hull.

Jumbo Ferry “Aoi” bound for Takamatsu. Streamlined “Kobe Meriken Park Oriental Hotel.” Mosaic Giant Ferris Wheel. Ferry terminal is right in front. Rope takers waiting. “Kobe Arena” under construction. Scheduled for completion in 2025. Hull approaching the wharf. Drops the line. Then the rope. Rope takers pull it. To the bollard. Lots of buses depart. This bus is bound for Awaji Island. Sannomiya is the center of Kobe. Several Sannomiya stations on various lines.

Sannomiya station of Port Liner. There are Sannomiya station of subway, Hanshin, Hankyu, etc. I go to JR Sannomiya station. Escalator to ground level. In front of ticket gate.   7. Guten Abend aus Deutschland, ich war schon in Vorfreude und wurde nicht enttäuscht. Wie immer haben Sie uns ein faszinierendes Video vorgestellt, danke dafür . Ich fand auch sehr interessant Ihre Bemerkung bezüglich des Falkens in Beziehung mit dem damaligen Kaiser Japans . Und niedlich finde ich den kleinen Weihnachtsbaum auf der Treppe . Ich sauge Ihre Reisen gegelrecht auf und Sie wissen ja wie begeistert ich von Japan und den Menschen bin . Ich hätte noch zum Abschluss eine heikle und ich hoffe nicht unhöfliche Frage , ich möchte Ihnen nicht zu nahe treten .
    Was hat es mit dem Yasukuni Schrein auf sich, den die Internationalen Meinungen möchte ich nicht wiedergeben , deswegen frage ich Sie sehr höflich und vorsichtig .     華やかさと言うより落ち着いた色調で安心感があっていいなぁと個人的に思いました😊
    寝台のほうは 出入口のそばでドアも有りませんでしたが 良く眠れましたか?

  14. Great trip. I prefer lower capsule, even though it's noisy due to footsteps, but when the ship is swaying, the effect is less than on upper one. When crowded i think spend on Single is great. Overall great food, great room, and great ship. The sunrise is gorgeous.
