Itoshima – Hanging of the 1-Ton Sacred Rope Festival /桜井二見ヶ浦大注連縄掛祭 – Live Stream Japan

One of the most frequently visited spots in Itoshima is Meoto-iwa in Futamigaura. Often referred to as the husband and wife rocks are just out of sea just off of a sandy beach. Each year, a ceremony is held on a Sunday in late April or early May to replace the shimenawa (straw garland) that connects the two rocks of Meoto-iwa. This year the ceremony takes place on May 1. Measuring 30 m in length and weighing 1 ton, the Shimenawa requires the strength and coordination of 60 men to hang. Work on the shimenawa begins around 9:00, and from around 15:30, about 60 men walk along the ebbing sea and climb up to the rocks to hang the sacred rope.

糸島の観光スポットの一つ、二見ヶ浦の夫婦岩。その夫婦岩に掛かる大注連縄を掛け替える年に一度の祭事が、2022年5月1日に行われる。毎年4月下旬から5月下旬の大潮の日曜日に行われているもので、大注連縄は長さ30m、重さは約1トンにものぼるという。朝9時頃から注連縄の制作が始まり、15:30頃からは約60人の氏子たちが、潮の引いた海を歩き夫婦岩に登り掛け替える。年に一度しか見られない祭事は必見！

20年以上にわたって印刷媒体を月刊誌として発行してきたが、ビデオも媒体の一つとして取り組みことにした。大好きな九州をカメラ片手に散策することは楽しそうだしね。福岡・九州はまだ、海外での認知度は低いけれど、規模は小さくても世界への発信ができればと考えてる。作り込んだビデオではないから、ゆっくりリラックスして楽しんで。
