If there is trash strewn about a large garbage bag that has been ripped open, it is almost always due to crows or a feral animal (crows are definitely the worst). When trash bags containing any food scraps or remnants in containers is set out for collection, most will usually be covered with a type of netting to prevent the animals from opening and scattering the contents.
