Arita (有田) the birthplace of Japanese porcelain is a small town in western Saga Prefecture on Kyushu that is famous throughout Japan for its pottery, known as Arita-yaki. Most of the town’s attractions are related to pottery, including kilns, museums, archaeological sites, shops and even the local shrine.
Huge Ginkgo Tree in the Izumiyama Sarasvati Shrine precinct, Arita, Saga, Japan. About 1,000 years old and 30.5 meters in height. In 1926 the tree was appointed as a natural monument of the Japan.
Izumiyama Quarry: It was due to the discovery of kaolin stone at this site in Izumiyama that Arita developed into a prosperous center of porcelain production. In the meantime, there is no longer any active mining at the quarry, and visitors can view the exposed rocks from a nearby observation area.

Arita History & Folklore Museum
The “Gundam Manholes” donated in the town of Arita feature a design with a background of the Tonbai walls.
Tonbai walls are made from fireproof bricks used to build climbing kilns, disposable kiln tools, and pottery shards coated with red clay, an unique tourist attraction in Arita, known for its pottery works.
