昔に比べて随分きれいに整備されましたね。半世紀以上前は塀もろくになくモミジが生えているだけで、奥には今にも朽ち果てそうな建物があるだけでしたが、当時と比べると雲泥の差です。ここまできれいにした人達の苦労が想像されます。
嵐山の紅葉はやはり常寂光寺とこの祇王寺に2箇所は最高ですよね！！とても美しいです。

以前訪れた時、平の清盛に捨てられた白拍子の祇王が、この地で終年過ごしたとの話を聞いた事を思いだしました。この紅葉を見たのですね。
祇王寺には昨日行きましたが意外に小さなお庭ですね。
それより今日歩いた山科あたりの琵琶湖疏水の紅葉が本当に綺麗ですよ。

祇王寺は嵐山～嵯峨野エリアでも特に好きな場所です。
中は決して広くは無いのですが、逆にそれが心を落ち着かせてくれますね。
夏休みや年末年始の帰省の時にしか行けないので、ぜひ紅葉シーズンにも行ってみたいです。本当に魅力的なお寺です😊
