NO ONE warned me about typhoons in Japan. I was freaking out, meanwhile, everyone else was calm like Floridians are calm when a hurricane is announced. I actually truly loved Nagoya. It was not on my list when I originally planned and didn’t have any sort of information on it so I googled a lot! I was pleasantly surprised how great it turned out to be. The food, environment, prices on shopping, etc. I would highly recommend the stop on your way to Kyoto. We were there for a day and a half, and I believe that was enough as long as you don’t go during rainy season!

The conventional train ride works with the JR pass, which made it worth it because the typhoon took out some of our travel on the Shinkansen. The local routes need to be paid for though. Subway systems are very easy to navigate and GoogleMaps works VERY well here, even for restaurant suggestions.
