Hong Kong has always been more complex than most would think. A product of British colonialism and Chinese culture, there’s nowhere else in the world like Hong Kong. It gets even more interesting when you visit the Nepali guesthouses, the Nigerian barbershops, the Indian restaurants and the Filipino parties in the park.

That’s what I decided to do. From the infamous Chungking Mansions, to the remote corners of the New Territories on the border with China, my last journey in Hong Kong was going to be one to remember. This was a Hong Kong that foreigners never see; in fact, it’s a Hong Kong that not even China or the Hong Kongers themselves often see.

  2. to correct you, it is not China does not want to you to see but Chinese Communist party.

  3. I had been living in HK for 7 years. Let me explain the HK housing situation base on my knowledge. We all know that HK is autonomous region of China. Before 2020, the attitude of the central government toward HK was basically let HK rules itself. Therefore, the politics in HK was basically Western style democracy. However, there is one problem. You see that HK economy is basically controlled by large local corporations(四大家族), who earn a lot of money from real estimate bussiness. The HK government knows the issue of high housing price and want to solve it. But the big corps have too much influence on the government and media. Everytime, the HK government wants to develop the new territory and build houses there, there will be environmental group coming out to protest. That's why the government cannot achieve anything for a long time. And Now, the central government of China imposes larger influence on HK politics, these corps start to behave. As a result, the HK government has much more power to solve the housing problem. Things are improving.

  4. What’s the chances of finding a brother cutting hair in Hong Kong 🇭🇰😳🇺🇸

  5. Wow watching your videos because you talk about HK but didn’t expect you would be visiting my village! 😮

  6. Love the video and style. Really interesting. Can i ask what camera you use to film or is it your phone? Thanks

  7. I know Chung King REALLY well, a Mongolian was killed right outside my room while I was doing a stunning Indonesia girl in a shitty room!!

  8. How do you film these videos on Chinese territory without being controlled and scripted by the cccp? I can't work out if you are a shill or not 😮

  9. I've really enjoyed my Friday evening watching a half dozen of your video's. You have a unique style which is friendly and informative. I like it 👍 you picked up another subscriber from Australia.

  10. Those Indian bros were some top class citizens. Took you in and gave you free food and was enthusiastic to give you the authentic experience, and you're not even in his country. Those are cream of the crop good people right there. Bless their souls.

  11. I grew up in Kowloon, but most of my family is in the New Territories, so its more of a home for me now that I hang around there every time I go back to HK. So much nostalgia.

  12. Pleeease, pretty girl. Let go of that stupid, useless paper muzzle! Show your face. Breathe fresh air!

  13. Those Sunday domestic worker gatherings are also a great place to pickup girls looking for a little extra money.

  14. Wow! That room! $24…that would be awesome when i come to visit HK… i never stay in the hotel more than a couple hours to sleep, then I’m on the street the rest of the time… i need to save this video and look out for this place when i come again.
If you have a suitcase, you think it’s safe to leave it for the day?

Haha… i met my tailor in HK! Way back in the late 90s! And i still buy my clothes from him since then…. He comes to the USA every year

My last trip i took the little mini bus all the way out to Lantau island… we hit all the territories, as well. And yeah, we still have our Octopus Card. (It was a lot of fun seeing all the “other parts” of HK)

And on the Octopus card, funny story.. there was a like a 3 year gap btwn our visits… and we brought out same octopus card back with us… and turns out our last usage of the card left us with a negative balance… no problem.. when we used it 3 years later, we just had to put enough money to cover the negative balance and the new usage. Loved that. Wish they had this in NYC. (At least we now have metro cards the last few years… not quite “octopus” since you can use it at bridges and taxis.. and such… but hey…getting there.)

Man…this video makes me miss HK, a lot. Thanks for taking me back, Bro.

  15. It is the rich lobbyists that prevent land development reforms to hold and increase real estate prices. There’s plenty of developable land in HK. Wait until 2047, the CPC will absolutely solve the affordable housing issue in HK — without a doubt.

  16. I lived for several years as a child in chunking mansion in the 70’s. Once I was confronted by child kidnapper in the stairwell but tricked the potential kidnapper and managed to escape.
Was not a safe place for sure. Lots of curry places and ivory sellers back then from what I remember.

  17. its my second year in mainland, Hainan, and looking forward to explore more, HK is def on my list! need to get a plane ticket there once:) thanks for the share dude and take care!

  18. I understand why you might think that the people supply food to HK. Subsistence farming is only for a bit of relief from day to day food needed! That is why the old people that aren’t economically active anymore have to supplement their food by planting little bits here and there if the climate allows it.
But you cannot, like our government, think that small scale farms can make any difference to the millions that live in that small city HK. It’s still commercial farming that makes the difference in the world!!
Imports and exports of commodities on a global scale. Wake up and watch some of these YouTube documentaries about commercial producers and production of food? 😮 you’ve traveled extensively and must have seen these vast tracts of land with rice, livestock and orchards of many descriptions!
I’ll be watching your vlogs where you just whisk past the farmers that feeds the world!
