While in Tokyo, I decided to meet up with a friend in Nerima (west of Ikebukuro). While searching online for some Indian food in Nerima, I saw good reviews of Kerala Bhavan. Thus, we decided to try it out.

I enjoyed the food and saw that the owner, Koodathodi Chami , (or Sashi) spoke English pretty well. After I left, I wondered what his story was. Why did he come to Japan? Why did he start a business? How was the process of starting a business in Japan? Etc. A few days later, I went back and asked Sashi if I could interview him. He was all for it. Thus, here is Sashi’s story of starting up his own Indian Restaurant in Tokyo: Kerala Bhavan.

Below are the timestamps:

1:07: Why did you decide to come to Japan and build a South Indian Restaurant?
2:09: When you came to Japan, were you thinking of being a restaurant owner?
2:33: What made you decide to go on your own and be a restaurant owner?
