The Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line is a bridge-tunnel combination that connects Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, and Kisarazu, Chiba Prefecture, crossing Tokyo Bay. It is a 14-kilometer-long toll road that includes a 4.4-kilometer-long bridge and a 9.6-kilometer-long tunnel section. The Aqua-Line was opened in December 1997 and is one of the most impressive engineering feats in Japan. The toll for passenger cars is quite expensive, but it offers a spectacular view of Tokyo Bay and can save a considerable amount of travel time compared to other routes.
