What happens when travel ends? In May 2018, me and my girlfriend quit our jobs to travel the world, but eventually it had to end.

This is a raw vlog about our final three weeks in Asia and how we prepared for returning home after travel.

  1. 12 months. 10 countries. The trip of a lifetime.

Thank you to everyone who followed us on this incredible journey. When we left for Asia in May 2018, I had 300 subscribers on this channel… When the trip ended I had 2000 subscribers and now, it’s nearly 30,000. Crazy!

I came back home with hundreds of gigabytes of unedited footage and for over a year I’ve been editing like mad. At times, it’s been very frustrating to have such a backlog of episodes to put together. Most you know that I’m a very slow editor and it takes me a while before I’m happy with each upload. But in hindsight, it’s been a real joy to look back on all of the amazing experiences we had – and the best part is that I will forever be able to come back to this channel and watch through all of our amazing memories.

I officially have no more videos to edit, so I’m going to take some time off before I get to work on some new content. The videos might be a bit different than before, as the world is very different place than when I was last travelling… But I promise we’ll find a way to make it fun.

Thank you so much for all of the support.

    See you again soon,

    Ryan

  2. I don't know what's more impressive, how you captivate your audience with video or how succinctly you describe what travel means to many of us. You have a gift and like many other subscribers I can't wait to see what your next chapter will bring.

  3. I'm not crying, you're crying 😂 I'm gutted you guys didn't decide to come to New Zealand, we could already be friends but I guess I'll just have to catch you on the road ✌

Your vlogs are great and I can't wait for you to figure out how to do it full time, and finally see you make it back to Asia when this is all over 😊

  4. It's definitely hard to leave Asia. It's the combination of paradise settings, endless adventure, incomparable buzz, most delicious street food in the world, ancient and beautiful culture, friendly and smiling locals, massive cities, jungles, mountains, islands, nightlife, markets, shopping, safety that is so overwhelming and exciting. It's the total opposite of the Western world and it really awakens your soul when you step out of you comfort zone and enter a totally new way of living. I completely understand where you're coming from.

  5. Not sure what you were feeling, but for me, I usually feel I wouldn't want to leave once I get attached to a place. It's very common for me to extend my stay and rebook flights for a few more days, and a few more additional days, until I really have to go LMAO

  6. I didn't get what you meant by travel messes you up..is that because you all of a sudden have different life plans, lol

  7. This video is genuinely incredible, the themes sum up travel so perfectly! We all hope to see more and more from you guys x

  8. You remind me so much of Simon Reeve, Ryan. You weave a story so well and so refreshingly honest. We feel like we're there with you. Love all your vids.

  9. Wow, I came across your channel when looking for some info about Asia where I’m going soon, started watching and….. couldn’t stop. Just watched all your videos and I can honestly tell you: this is exactly what I find interesting among many YTrs – a great story, fantastic shots and music. Really catching and keeping my attention. But this one is a masterpiece. It really moved me because I exactly understand your feelings that time. I also had such feelings everytime when leaving Asia. And imagine that last time I returned home in February 2020 just days before all this mess started. Same as you waiting for my next trip to do more videos. And it comes in February 2023 finally – three years later. Anyway! Great job, keep filming. Cheers! Brunonson – your newest fan from PL 😁

  10. Brilliant! So moving. You are a great writer. So few vloggers are. I’m about a year away from starting a SE Asian travel channel. When I do, I’m giving a nod to you as someone who has inspired me.

  11. Love this video, as someone who has spent 18 years on the road, this video really speaks volumes to me. I truly feel like some people are just born to be nomadic.
So glad to see this wasn't the end of your journey and that you are back on the road. 2GOROAM recommended your channel and I can already see i have a lot to catch up on and watch.
