  1. Aloha Love your channel !!

Have you thought about doing hotel, shops, parks tours too to expand your viewership/subscribers?? not sure, if you are interested in this area. I just think you deserve 100,000+ subscribers 💙🌊

  2. I've never seem Pozole with hominy. I prefer Menudo but I'm specific to Menudo with oregano, some places don't add oregano but I grew up with it so it's my staple.

  3. right on sistah~ bento look good~ oh i didnt know you re mckinley tiger! i am a mule da donkey lol😁😂🤣

  4. You’re probably right I wouldn’t have gone to any of these places. Glad you shared these spots.

  5. El Burrito! Me and my Mexican friend Mikie used to go there all the time in the ‘80s when we worked at Ala Moana. He always did the chili rellenjo and I always did the menudo cuz I love tripe and it was always good. Hope to see you tonight!

  6. Only one I went to was El Burrito back in 1986, since I was kind of dating a Mexican American from Cali who for living here back then for just a few months, heard about this place that had recently opened and we ate inside and was packed. Sorry I cannot remember what we ate since I was kind of smitten with this female, but it didn't work out as she called herself a 'coconut' which I didn't even know what that meant. She explained that she was brown skinned on the outside but acted white inside… lol ! We broke off by mutual agreement as she was kinda 'too fast' for my taste… As for the other two, yeah have passed by quite often and the Frog House Restaurant name was such a turn off for me (sorry, that was waaay back then my mentality). Enjoyed the video as it brought back 'a memory' (good and bad) !

  7. Man your finish was supreme. I so need that place in my life. The soup & side looked so ono. Mahalo sis❤

  8. I do avoid some restaurants, so I will try to be more adventurous next time out. If you like pozole, you might want to try caldo de res. That was quite a food tour. Thanks! 😋👍

  9. I like the last place (Korean). You really seem to enjoy their food. Next time I'm home I'll be sure to stop there.

  10. I'm glad you were able to get some food I've been there and really liked what I bought. Great vlog as always 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

  11. Every place you hit was a restaurant my Great Uncle Dennis took me to he worked and lived nearby.😢😢😢😢😢

  12. I’ve got to look for that Citronella spray. Thanks for that tip!!!
That seafood soup at The Froghouse looks really delicious. I caught myself blowing on it while it was boiling in the bowl….lol. I like all the sides they serve at Korean Restaurants. I’m all hungry now. Thanks for another great video, Misty!

  13. Aloha Misty, I say you hit da jackpot on da Haemoo Jiggae! Butter fish would have been delicious but Monk fish is pretty good too. I've often heard it called, "poor man's lobster". The El Burrito Posole looked legit, just like the kind I find in New Mexico. Like you, I prefer Posole and Menudo with lots of toppings and corn tortillas. Raw sharp white onions, Mexican Oregano and dried crushed chili peppers are my must haves. Definitely checking out those places when next on island. Mahalo or sharing with us!

  14. Mahalo for the hole-in-the-wall tips! I drive by El Burrito almost every day. I will be going down to get some soup!
    🍍😎🤙🌴🥥🌺🌈

  15. Glad you tried the Frog restaurant; quite a misnomer. The soup was sizzling and boiling and that somehow enhances the flavor even though it burns the tongue. All of the banchan's makes a meal all by itself with a bowl of rice. Yum!!

  16. Well, mystery solved for me! LOL! I, too, pass Frog House and often wonder what kind of food they serve. Looks like a more upscale Korean place in terms of what they serve. Definitely not Yummy's! I also heard that the noodle shop next door is also good!

  17. enjoyed your video very interesting i passed all 3 places but never ate there your video reminded me of a mom n pop place called plaza mini mart on curtis street its on the bottom of a condo when i worked around there they had really ono bentos n salads n very reasonable but the parking is in the condo drop off place in front we used to walk from our office

  18. Great video showing places we may have passed by a million times but never went in! I've never had pazole but it looked really rich and flavorful, will give it a try! Jjigae served searing hot in a stone pot is the way to go 🤤. Appreciate your sampling parameters of trying dishes with an empty stomach and fresh palate 👌. Does the citronella spray work with people i'd like to avoid though? Jk 😜!

  19. I can count on one hand how many times I went into Louise's Deli on King Street because I would usually be going to the attached Professional Bldg for doctor appointments, so I didn't have free time to go in there, but I think when I went in there, it was more like they sold candy and drinks like at a gas station. Sounds like it has an improved menu. Wish I still had reasons to go there
so I could stop by for that delicious Bento and some mandoo.

  20. Aloha Misty: Your video brought back a lot of memories of the school days and happy memories of the area around McKinley. I still have the memories of the site across from the old HPD parking — I see that it became a park! Yes, I still have memories of catching the bus on Beritania to go home and Liliha Street to go to school. 😁. Showcasing the Mexican food is making me plan for a run-to my favorite Mexican restaurant this afternoon for their pozole. Great blog! Hope Aiden enjoyed some of the musubi and chimichanga! Best wishes and🧧, to you both! My 🤙, fellow 🐯!

  21. thanks. i always like your detailed description of what you are eating, it really gives u a feeling for the dish. all the best !

  22. Mahalo for doing this video. I’ve seen these places before too and have never gone but now I will. Appreciate these reviews and keep up the good work!

  23. 17:03 “Invisible Barrier of Doom”. Hi Misty , great tip about the Citronella Spray , I’ve never seen it here in Sydney. I’ll certainly keep an eye out for the spray.. We grew up here using Aeroguard , it’s personal insect repellent you can spray on your self. Yesterday coming home we stopped and grabbed some burgers and chips , the flies were driving us crazy. As we call it here the “Australian Salute” , waving our hands around to drive the flies away, is all we could do to eat our food. Let’s see if I can find the Citronella Spray 🤞
    Cheers Rod 🤙

  24. I don’t like cooked carrots either but I’ll eat it in stews. Raw baby carrots are my jam.

  25. One of your very best multi restaurant videos and worthy of 5 thumbs up but I got only 2. Frog house and El Burrito here I come. Yum.

  26. Oooh are you making this a series??? I’d love to learn about more hole-in-the-wall eateries and support them! I see these little places and they peak my interest, but I get hesitant to go in. Seeing someone else try it first would make me more comfortable to try it myself.

And thanks for sharing the tip about the citronella spray. Sometimes we do takeout and want to enjoy our meal outdoors, but the bugs and birds turn us off.

    Great video!

  27. Hey I went to El Burrito yesterday. She mentioned that she didn’t know who you were but remembered you. I played them your vlog and she was so very grateful and felt bad that she forgot the extras for the pesole. I had to go and try the lamb chimichanga. It was so good. I also had their pesole which was equally good! I definitely will go back and try their menudo with another side of the lamb chimichangas. Thanks much for the review.

  28. Hey Misty!! We love the variety of places in the video!! It’s nice to see that all these places that you used to pass by are still there and seeing all the delicious eats definitely explains why. The sound affect after you asked is they only took cash was definitely a good laugh. Your excitement from the shiitake mushroom made our mouths water. The chimichanga was packed inside!! Looked delicious for sure. The seafood stew was packed with so much seafood!! Great deal for sure. Mahalo for the citronella spray info. We found it on Amazon and ordered a couple of bottles!! Another fun foodie adventure!! Mahalo for taking us along!!

  29. Aloha Misty!! Soo cool. I drive by the Frog House quite often in town and would have never thought to go inside so Ill have to now:) And El Burrito looked good too! Trying to think of what food I would request on death row now🤔 haha.. Mahalo for another great review!!:):)
