  1. Simon and Martina the “France” flavored kakigori was actually pear flavored.

  2. I realize that I'm over a year late, but story time! When I was a carhop at Sonic, we had this one dude that would come through at 3 in the afternoon and get a 44 oz (largest size) strawberry slush "with a little wiggle room"— meaning don't fill it all the way up, because I'm finishing this thing with rum!

  3. I really enjoyed watching this video because I love snow cones and have tried many types but not Japanese. I love the Hawaiian Shaved Ice and the Caribbean snow cones…I am can only imagine the skill in choosing the right block of ice and the ideal machines that works magic on that ice…the sauce should be the best…simple and humble that crack the ice crystals…..snow cones are great with ice cream too…

  4. Oh my Lord I had to look up what that france(?) flavour was and it's pear! It's frickin' pear! lol

  5. I don’t know how you guys always manage to cheer me up, but thank you!!

  6. I love the description of a snow cone. Because that's exactly true. I hate snow cones and have never understood the appeal. Just get a slurpee.

  7. ok I adore Martina’s ability to describe food, I can imagine the flavor a million miles away. u brilliant. luv u martina

  8. I wonder if Shaved ice was part of the cultural exchange between Italy and Japan when they were part of the Axis

  9. you should try the philippine shaved ice version dessert called … HALO-HALO
Its aaaaaaaa shaved iced with milk and looooots of toppings like taro , red beans?? idunno ummm corn , pudding , ice cream , nata de coco and MANY MOREEEE you can also customize it ☺️❤️

p.s halo = is mix in tagalog
so its mix mix 😂 because of the toppings

  10. ok wow new here and I DIDN'T REALIZE that that was simon…. with the fohawk?… and the glasses… and clean shaved? I just…. whaaa

  11. I went to Japan in March so it was really hard to find Kakigouri, my favourite flavour is Watermelon or Suika but I couldn't find any place that sold it. I went to two seperate places and they both were really fancy with at least hour long waits, one had the line going down a stairwell it was in Harajuku. I think you can only find the simple Kakigouri in Summer, I ended up having a Royal Milk Tea one because my Katakana reading wasn't that fast and I didn't want to hold up the line, at the other place I had a Raspberry one.

  12. Despite the fact that I’m rewatching this in the dead of February in Chicago, I’m dying for some shaved ice now…

  13. In Louisiana they have shaved ice, they just call it SnoBalls. They’re super good! If y’all ever go to New Orleans you should try it!

  14. In germany we actually have Shaved ice as well… but we love to "shave" it ourself, we call it "Kratz-Eis" scratch(ed/ing)-ice . Since we are scratching it with the spoon our self.

  15. I have had the Kakigori song stuck in my head for the past 2 weeks without context and whenever my mind is still or my house is quiet, that’s what pops into my head and I just have to laugh! Thank you for bringing these random pockets of crazy joy into the world for all us Nasties 💕

  16. Hahaa Martina I laughed so hard when you mentioned a Kaki-Colada because it was exactly what was running thru my mind the moment you guys bought that pineapple one. The Malibu ran thru my mind as well – ooof that’d taste SO good! Must… experiment one day. Hmm, yes. 🧐 Pineapple with the mango AND Malibu? 🤤

This definitely sounds like it’s hit the spot right about now lol.

  17. Literally just ate some shaved ice. I had Mango Madness which is a combination of mango, pineapple, and strawberry! My fav!
