Welcome to another trip report. Video 2 out of 9 on my way to and in China along the Silk-Road.

In this video I’ll be travelling on a Talgo sleeper train from Berlin Ostbahnhof in Germany via Poland and Belarus to Moscow Beloruskaja in Russia.

CORRECTION: The train can be booked 60 days in advance, not 45 like I mentioned in the video. Most national trains of the RZD can be booked 45 days in advance. (when this train is fully booked, there are many alternatives as well).

I will launch a website with more information soon www.trainviking.com

  1. I've heard that you can't cross the border from Belarus to Russia by train if you're not Russian/Belarussian. Is this true?

  2. tell us the cost of everything in usa dollars and where you stayed in hotels……….

  3. A few years ago on holiday in Berlin as I always get the local weekly travel for bus and rail my wife and I took the Sbahn that encircles the city and can thoroughly recommend it for anyone wanting to see parts of the city not on the tourist map , hopping off and on when and where you just felt like

  4. Loving this series so far, it's fascinating the concept of such a long journey entirely on the iron tracks. Something that not everyone is strong enough to experience

  5. Привет из России! Было интересно наблюдать за вашим путешествием!

  6. I wonder if there is enough demand to run Moscow Minsk Berlin Hannover Amsterdam the Border Station being Emmerich Am Rhein like the EN447 Jan Kipura Amsterdam Utrecht Arnhem Oberhausen Duisburg Bochum dortmund Hannover Helmstedt Marienborn Berlin Moscow Minsk via Warsaw Frankfurt Am Oder. Otherwise use the shortcut which is the Heneglo Bad Bentheim Osnabrück railway line bypassing the Duisburg Oberhausen-Arnhem Utrecht Amsterdam railway line if RZD Belarusian railways PKP Poland NS Netherlands Deutsche Bahn Germany wanted an Amsterdam to Moscow Talgo train. At Moscow there is a connection is available to Moscow Vladivostok train with Coaches to Pyongyang via Tumangan Khasan North Korea Russia border station. Also the Strizh is useful provided one has to go to Hong Kong from Berlin by changing trains at Moscow and Beijing from Berlin and Amsterdam.

  7. Average speed for this 1800km distance 80 km/h (covered in 23 hrs) is a shame. Certainly several things need to be improved / upgraded. Certainly, the technology exists to have this train cover this distance at only 12hrs or less. The luxurious train could still be used for a night time scheduling between Berlin and Moscow in both directions. For exampe, the night time sleeper train leaving either Berlin or Moscow at 21:00 hrs to arrive in the morning 12 hrs later. Daytime scheduling with regular EC type trains leaving either Berlin or Moscow at 6:00am arriving in the other city in the early evening.
Kudos for eliminating the bogie exchange rituals, but please fix the average speed.

  8. I think that this kind of travel is not possible anymore! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 The COVID pandemic and later Putin's aggression of Ukraine stopped these wonderful services. These are the good old times we, as railfans are missing so much!
