We were recently asked where we found the most friendly people on our travels and where we found the least friendly people on our travels. Some of them may surprise you! Friendly people are everywhere so that is something everyone should know, but here are our top two favorite friendly places and a couple places where we felt our welcome was wore out before we even got there.

  1. That's wild. Denmark was extremely friendly when I went in 2021, but it just wasn't in a very extroverted way. I actually have fond memories of 2 particular cafes due to that. One was in Copenhagen and the other Hillerod overlooking the Frederiksborg Castle. You do seem quite extroverted, though. Maybe they were turned off by that.

  2. Denmark and The Netherlands are the same in that regard. Frankly, so is the entirety of Scandinavia. They are all fascist countries.

  3. Chuck a few beers down a Scandinavian and not only will you have a friend for life but you'll probably end up on some mad mission

  4. 2:29 Well Copenhagen doesn’t really have a subway but speaking about public transportation in general, you don’t talk to people on the train. The Danish like other Scandinavians respect each other’s personal space and out of respect they leave you alone. You would definitely not talk to strangers on a Finnish train, like they have a phobia about it. People think it’s polite in Scandinavian countries to mind their own business. So that’s why they seem reserved. Danes also love to follow rules. Rule #1 about Danish public transport is be polite and don’t bother other people.

  5. i just came back from Bulgaria, the country is amazing. Sofia has such a good vibe and Plovdiv is super beautiful. However, i was called Jacky more than 10 times, within 4 days there, because I am East Asia. Jacky Chan, you know?

  6. Very funny to watch as a Dane. 😅 It is probably true. It's not standard at all to talk to strangers on the street.

  7. I'm Italian i will give you my top 3 excluding my country:
    -spain
    -romania
-germans in techno clubs or festival

    Top unfriendly:
    -estonia
    -hungary
    -france/belgium french part

  8. Denmark! What a surprise- Rated the happiest people on the globe how weird! My least favorite place with rude folks was Jamaica & Colorado-USA! They can have both of them! NYC was surprisingly the best- very down to earth, unpretentious & blunt folks- they are honest & take me or leave me- I can appreciate that….

  9. Totally agree with Italy, but totally disagree with Switzerland!!! Most unfriendly place is definitely PARIS

  10. If the docent hadn't been keeping an eye on your kid, they wouldn't have been doing their job. As a quick approximation, roughly 100.000000000000000% of parents will tell a docent that their kid is an angel who would never touch the artwork. Some of those parents are mistaken. Kids love to touch, poke, and prod. That's not a character flaw and it's not an insult to anyone's parenting skills. It's just reality.

  11. I found that Germany wasn't the nicest in terms of people, though country is fine. Too formal and too rigid.

  12. Friendliest places:
    St Lucia
    Chile
    Bolivia
    Southern States
    Kenya

    Least Friendliest:
    Argentina
    Wales
    New York

  13. Most friendly for me are Portuguese and Belgians. French living at the Belgian borders are known to be very friendly too, and they are. Least friendly for me are Czech and Hungarians.

  14. Ah yes, I've heard about that about the Danes – they're super direct as well like "I would rather not see you" or when they invite you over "ok it's time for you to leave now". Basically they don't mince their words. When you've done something they don't like, they'll let you know… It has it's downsides as being perceived as rude and it's upside is you not having to guess whether you're crossing any line. That being said, yeah they're super selfish tbh and the lines really are very close to them. They tolerate foreigners but there's no way they're gonna hang out with you. They're as introverted as their Nordic siblings, but as rude and grumpy as the French. It's super weird if you're not used to it. On the flip side, I've heard Iran and Thailand has some of the least selfish and friendly people. Also up there opposite of Denmark would be Spain, Ireland, and Canada – all super friendly and welcoming to foreigners, laid back, yet respectful. Man f*ck but Irish people fr – the most down to earth chillable people ever, they're friendly but in a super honest way. Spanish – so sunny and sleepy, no tension, don't care where you come from. Canadians – very respectful and nonaggressive, again multicultural.

  15. So brave to go to Africa. Good for you. Key is trying to learn basic phrases wherever you visit. How to start a conversation. For example, in France, everything starts with “Bon Jour”. Just part of the culture. If you don’t start with this simple phrase, French think you are being rude and they may return the favor.

  16. Switzerland was also my first thought of least friendly, they were all so grumpy and angry at our presence!
Central Asia and Philippines very friendly too.

  17. Friendly places/countries:
Madrid (the most relaxed capital city I have been to)
Seoul (not always on the surface, but Koreans are a great people)
    Toronto (Canada in general)
    Portugal

    Unfriendly:
Switzerland (they seemed to disdain everyone that can't speak or understand Swiss German)
    Hungary

BTW, I'm Austrian by choice (naturalized citizen). Came here a long time ago and really love it being here. But I know the mentality is complicated. 🙂

  18. Friendly is Austria especialy in the villages, Portugal, Iceland , Ireland, turkey, the villages in Holland. Madrid and Valencia are friendly, i have never been to servie and Albanië but everyone who's going there say they are very friendly. And the eastern part of belgium is friendly. Thanks for the video 🙂👍

  19. Kim Jong Un went to boarding school in Switzerland. That experience turned Kim into a coldhearted dictator.
