Rapid City has way more upscale, expensive houses vs. jobs. Meaning I don't have a clue where some of these folk work at ? There's only so many doctor, lawyer, dentists in this town. Downtown stores are becoming more vacant by the year. Yet, more upscale apartments no local is going to be able to afford are being built. Tourism is its only salvation, but it's low wage for those who do it. It's tough for an average person to get by here.
I live here and im surprised how many good comments there is. Its mid not really much to do here. definitely a beautiful place but not much to do here.
It’s crazy hearing other people’s perspectives on Rapid since I’ve lived here my whole life. Now i know if I move anywhere else there would have to be a view!
I would think Sturgis rally would kinda suck for the residents. All the weekend warrior Harleys decked out head to toe in genuine authorized Harley Davisdon clothing and accessories clogging up the roads hoping someone is looking at them. 😂
We call it Rancid City, housing, property rentals are all way overpriced for the average income in the State. South Dakota has tourism, farming and ranching.
NO homeless camps on main square, junkies shooting up dope and people just enjoying their children outdoors. Must be a red state and must really feel uncomfortable to liberals when the pass through.
Mt Rushmore does a night lighting of the side of the mountain I think at 1830. One of the locals will correct me. And they honor current serving and veterans bring them to the front and ask them how long they served where they are from etc. Pretty cool to see.

Beautiful roads
The Dakotas, Black Hills, Montana and Wyoming are my favorite places in the country. And I've been everywhere. I can't wait to go back again.
Really interesting! South Dakota is the only state west of the Mississippi that I haven’t visited yet. This video makes me want to go!
What a greatman Jimmy Carter is. God bless him.
"Big Foots." HAHAHA. She cracks me up.
Her trout dinner looks wonderful and healthy.

If you go to keystone again, i recommend going to the pizza joint upstairs next to the Saloon. It’s a 50’s style lil’ pizza place 😎👍🏼
Dinosaurs are fake.

Lived in rapid for a long time! Skyline dr is cool
What about Custer State Park? Lots of (fenced-off) bison, and non-fenced burros who welcome (and beg for) snacks.

At 1:11 you pass another landmark, Hangman’s Tree, where stories say many men were hung back when Rapid City was known as Haycamp.
