At the end of my week in Hakodate, Japan, I returned to Goryokaku Park to see the 1,600 cherry blossom trees in full bloom! While there, we lucked into seeing a re-enactment of a Japanese wartime sword battle. Later in the afternoon I took a walk into the hills of Hakodate, and stumbled upon the former home of a wealthy local merchant, now open to the public as a museum. What a busy and fun day of Japanese culture!
