Welcome to day 2 of our Kansai Cycling Trip across Japan. In day 1, we rode our bikes from Nagoya to Lake Biwa and down to Kyoto and had a bit of a rough night due to our hotel double booking us and not telling us about it until we arrived.
Fortunately, we finally found a new hotel to stay at and now begins day 2. Today, we’re just riding our road bikes around a couple Kyoto attractions, mainly Fushimi Inari Taisha and Arashiyama.
Kyoto is a pretty compact and relatively flat city, making it great to get around by bicycle. There are also lots of shops that do bike rentals and also a couple good river cycling paths that you can use to get around.
Here’s our cycling route that we did on Strava in case you want to follow a similar path. We passed by a lot of other attractions as well, including kinkakuji and Ryoanji, but unfortunately did not have enough time to stop everywhere.
