Asakusa is crowded with tourists during the day. However when the sun goes down, it’s super chill and a great place to spend a couple of hours.

Love this video like all your others!
Please do a vegetarian food/street food video. Would be so grateful!
Man I love your country love you guys so much β€β€β€β€
I haven't had hoppum but I know the drink. it was developed after WW II when there was a beer shortage.
This is fun to see, have never been to Asakusa in the evening, only during the day. When I went out it was usually in Ikebukuro, Takadanobaba or Shinjuku. Perhaps fun to go sometimes. One of my favourite shotengai in Asakusa is one that crosses Nakamisedori. You have a good view of skytree and there is a good family restaurant at the end of one side.
Iβm planning a trip to Osaka, Japan, in November 2023. COVID forestalled my travel plans so Iβm long overdue for a trip to Japan. Both my nephews lived and taught private English lessons to local Japanese students in Osaka. They are English and Finnish from their mother and Japanese from our side of the family. Their 2-year teaching experience in Osaka was an enriching and learning experience of Japanese culture, language and cuisine. We are fortunate to live in a city that has many restaurants featuring Asian cuisine.
When I was in Japan last December my friends and I were wandering around Asakusa looking for a place to eat and wound up finding that "South Park" restaurant and eating there. It was very tasty.
I'm at work so I'll have to watch later but I hope you're having a good day Shinichi.π
prefer the organ music to some high pitched japanese female bleating on, which is so common in japan to always have some tannoyed voice banging on at the poor unsuspecting public.
I know a lot of people from Kerala and have had the pleasure of tasting their food many times. You should definitely try it π€€
@11:22 Me watching from Kerala
The lighting and comfortable Shitamachi vibe really do make Asakusa lovely and romantic in the evening. Thank you, Shinichi and Satoshi, for the relaxing and peaceful stroll. It looks like you have several new restaurants to sample next time you visit Asakusa!
You are amazing!πππ
One of my most memorable experiences in all my travels is going to the Kamiya Bar in Asakusa. It was recommended to me by a shop owner that spoke decent English. Supposedly the oldest bar in Tokyo.
Looks like a perfect evening. Exactly what my husband and I love to do in vacation. All the shops and restaurants. The temples and parks. The amusement park!! Love to see that! Awesome. Thank you ππΌ
I am hesitant with my plan to visit Japan. Everyone seems so dedicated to custom and tradition that I fear that I will stand out as a western guy who doesnt speak Japanese. I think people wil just be annoyed with me because I dont know how to act in situations. I know that people can see that im not Japanese because of how I look obviously, so im hoping they will be understanding that im not fully aware of all the little unwritten rules, but still, it seems rather intimidating.
Asakusa is so much fun. Luckily my favorite tour organizer usually picks his hotel in Tokyo there. I'm going all on my own this September, but I'll still be following that tradition. Can't drink alcohol any more thanks to medication, so it's going to be Hoppy only (the Soto without the Naka) this time, I guess. I can hardly wait, I haven't been to Japan since the recent plague.
I love how retro this neighbourhood looks! Definitely my cup of tea!
Heading to Japan in Nov myself, hitting Kyoto and Osaka for a couple days then test in tokyo area. Can't wait. If I see ya guys on the street I'll definitely say hi
Interesting video.
Check in that South Park hotel which serves Kerala food. Kerala is my neighouring state in India. I am planning to visit Japan around October. Thanks for Asakusa episode, my choice is to visit this in evening.
I like those hidden areas with small bars with seating for only a few.
I will remember this area when I travel to Japan again. I have only been to the Akihabara area for my Job.
I love Asakusa , it's the first place i ever stayed in Japan
This is fascinating content. Please keep doing these.
Shinichi, thanks for taking us along with you on your walk!! The restaurants look interesting. We plan on checking them out on our next trip.
I agree!! I went at night and it was beautiful!
A night walk thanks for sharing this video ππβ€οΈπππ―π€©ππ₯° Cheers enjoy
Beautiful ! Thank you.
Yeh my second home we were there only month ago!!!
I love the vibe at night there in hoppy street
Personally I donβt like the hoppy drink π
Love the vid shinichi!!! ππΌββοΈππ»
8:59 A hat store for Count Dracula?
Amazing video. Itβs great to hear that Hoppy Street is such a short walk from the temple!
Everyone is welcome until you run into a Japanese Only establishment.
Aloha πΊ Kirei nei. π₯°
Hello! π I was there, in Asakusa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0eUecmJtWM
For tendon Masaru a short walk from Kaminarimon, down a small side street is on my short list of places in Asakusa.
Thank you for a great tour around Asakusa Looking forward to my return and explore the back streets !
Was lucky enough to stay in Asakusa last month while visiting Tokyo, absolutely loved it and would not hesitate to stay there again
OMG! Shinichi, you are killing me!! I was laughing so hard at that 'morbid music in the background' comment of yours. I've watched this video 4 times now just to hear you say 'morbid music'! Elvira has invaded Japan…. No seriously- you need to make a Tabi Eats Morbid Music Tshirt for Halloween……
Weβll be there staying in Asakusa in Nov. I love all your videos I wish we can spend a day with you both. β€
Lol, I was thinking the same thing, what's with the morbid music? π
I have one of my best ever travel photo in Asakusa. Feeding the pigeons was just great on photo with pigeons flying towards me.
Hey, it would be very nice if someone can tell me what song is played at the end of the video: 21:39
It says Empusae in the video description but I cannot find this specific song. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe Shinichi himself can help me out here? Really like that atmospheric song
Seems like people in japan already eased on wearing masks! Thatβs very nice to see some normalcy and people enjoying life! Thank you so much! Great video as always
