One of the most iconic desserts in Turkey is baklava. And in the southeastern city of Gaziantep, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, master chef Mehmet Akincioglu runs a traditional baklava shop that bakes hundreds of trays of this dessert every day.

Everything from the dough and butter to the pistachios used for filling is carefully chosen to bring out the most intense flavor and consistency.

We visited Akincioglu Baklava to see how it makes this legendary dessert in such big batches.

  1. This was fascinating to watch. The part that made it difficult was watching people handle dough with extremely hairy arms.

  2. I'm a Turk. I'm happy that our Nation is being presented.

But I really do not understand in the slightest, WHAT IS ABOUT THIS DISH WAR WİTH GREEKS.

I don't fuckin care who made it first, stole or whatever. If its good it's going to my tummy.

I'm saying yummy yummy good for tummy and devour an entire tray of it.

Just let it go god damnit.

  3. To everyone who sees this comment, keep pushing in life and never give up. Can't wait to see you successful one day and May God bless you!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  4. I actually had the pleasure of trying their baklava and ithas been the best I've had till this day.

  5. It was certainly good until they added a shitload of sugar!!!
My preference would've been much much less

  6. Overpriced and I ate much better for 30$ instead of 100$ and theirs was a normal nusr et baklava and the one I ate was full of authentic turkish pistachios to the brim.

  7. I'm from that city and never heard of Akincioglu Baklava. It says in their website they were founded in 1994. I guess really old Baklava places did not want to be filmed because they don't need any publicity.

edit: in fact most beloved baklava places in Gaziantep have a limited production to keep their taste and quality really high. One of them, Zeki Inal, told me that they don't even want a website because their baklava sold outs by 2pm most of the time. All they have is an instagram account and if you really want an order outside that's the only way for you to do it.

  8. Disgusting. Pretty sure a good number of them have their hairs mixed in with the dough.

  9. One of the most delicious treats ever created, I imagine this one’s are superior to any baklava I’ve tasted so far 🤤

  10. Whatever happened to voice overs? I want to pay attention to the video and not have to read.
