Mt. Kaimon is a volcano that towers high from the sea at the southernmost part of the Satsuma Peninsula, Kagoshima.
The drive starts in the tea fields in the Chiran district and heads to Mt. Kaimon Trailhead. Chiran is a famous tea production area in Japan. The fans above tea fields are to sweep out cold air near the ground to prevent tea plants from damaging by frost.

４０年前福岡勤務時代にニューヨーク勤務が長かった上役を東京から招いて鹿児島まで案内しました。指宿のゴルフ場に行く途中、車から外を見ながら彼がやたら日本は良いなあと連発していたのを思い出します。有り難うございます。有り難うございます。
I know you love driving in this region, esp with Sakurajima in the background. Thankfully this time, there doesn't appear to be smoke coming out of it's cone.
It's nice scenery, but it'll only stay that way until God forbid Sakurajima has a major eruption.

4:42の交差点を右折して西へ５キロ程行ったところに、中原公園という知覧茶畑と開聞岳そして東シナ海が一望出来る公園があります。
景色に、火山灰が舞ってるのめっちゃ映ってるね。
