Diabetes is a non-communicable disease caused by high blood glucose levels and is currently one of Japan's most important public health problems. Japan has around 11 million people with diabetes, according to IDF 2021.

    Interested fact: South Korea ppl also consume bread more than rice as well, there were a flours shortage sometime.

    I m from Europe and I am avoiding bread as much as possible. Even for meals I have changed it for rice.

  5. I think this depends on the age of the person, and location… I know Japanese that have frozen single portions of rice, and every morning they microwave it and eat it (with grilled fish, seaweed, soup, natto, egg roll etc).

  6. Bullshit. The American government forced bread on the Japanese so that they could charge for supplying grain. They forced the Japanese to eat bread rather than produce rice for themselves.

    Even thought it's one of my faves I don't eat a simple traditional Japanese breakfast very often
