I'm planning a trip to Japan and luckily I have relatives that lived there and they said the JR Pass is not going to be worth it and that night busses are a better alternative, if you can sleep on a moving vehicle that is.
I see two places I lived and worked in during the 1990s on the map, Takasago and Akashi. Kansai is a wonderful place to live, great people, great food and plenty of interesting places to explore.
Do you remember if it was allowed to pet the deer? Or just feed them? I would be wanting to hug them, LOL! Though when they swarm/crowd, that freaks me out. Makes me feel trapped/panicky.
I didn't find the deer aggressive but Loretta did. Fact is, she was walking around with a few of the crackers in her bag that she didn't realize were in there. She thought she already gave them all out. The crackers cost 200 yen now.
