😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner – we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.

So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.

Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.

We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

  1. You're adventure set off straight away in Japan, didn't it! 😮 So interesting how much of their day-to-day tasks are automated, but the people seem hospitable and helpful. To new horizons!!! ❤️❤️😎👍xx

  2. Thank you for your signature and address card.
I watched "UNEXPECTED FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF JAPAN".
I'm looking forward to the next program.
If you have the time, Japan will be in the rainy season until the end of July, except for Hokkaido.
I plan to stay in Hokkaido until the end of July.
This weekend is the Yosakoi Festival in Sapporo.
I plan to go to the school festival of "Asahikawa Medical College".
I wish you a safe and enjoyable trip.😄

  3. I wish I were as brave as you. I would be in full blown panic mode with that transport. I didn't even like the London tube when we were there. Have a fabulous trip. Bet you can't wait see Trudie again.

  4. Great start with the flight then oh no 😮the fire alarm confusion !!!
I love the barrier idea on the underground train platforms as it’s a fear I have getting too close to the edge when it’s really busy 👌
Yet again the hospitality from the locals is first class 👏👏
How amazing only in Japan would food be delivered by a robot 🤣
Can’t wait till you guys start your travels around Japan in Trudy 🫶

  5. I am so glad you met helpful people‼️😊👍The robot server was amazing and fun 😊👍‼️

  6. You're coming to Malaysia next, there are Mamak restaurants using robots to deliver your order esp in Kuala Lumpur.

  7. Looks very very nice! That was really very nice of those people to help you with your tickets! Restores your faith in Humanity!! 🙂

  8. Wow! My son and I are going to Japan in a little over 2 weeks – he's taught himself Japanese (including all 3 alphabets), so this is a bit of an exploratory trip for him! We're in Tokyo for 6 nights, then Hiroshima for 3, followed by 7 on Osaka. For the last 4 nights I've booked a small place north of Mt Fuji, so we can relax from city life with a few walks around Fujisan before flying back via Helsinki… JR Pass booked for the trains, though opted for a meet-and-greet service who will help us book the major train journeys as we arrive at Haneda. Sone self-catering in apartments, some hotels -opted not to do the hired van-life thing for any part (this time?!). If you fancy a coffee at some point, drop me a message!

  9. Sometimes is better to have the worst experience first so everything that comes next is no big deal. Japan receive you with a false quake alarm luckily. Just like l heard Tokyo looks super clean, orderly but l wonder if having robots serving you will take off, maybe helping a human waiter with the orders or dishes. Ready to see your adventure in the rising sun kingdoom.
