How don’t more people know about this place?? I was STUNNED by the beautiful of this magical island and it is definitely paradise on Earth. Florianopolis is in the south of Brazil and is the capital city of Santa Catarina state. It is a very unique destination where there is a busy downtown core, but what most people come here for is the jaw dropping beaches, beautiful mountains, sand dunes and just all around beauty that is this island. My goodness!! 🤩All I can say, without a doubt, is that Brazil is a countless source of beautiful sceneries, beaches, nature, color, and beauty everywhere you go.

It is very nice and safe here and a lot to see
Buses are very nice and easy to use to go about anywhere. You can go to the north of the island from centro on a direct bus, no stops.
I am from the north of Brasil ; Recife and Joao Pessoa, both really good places for you to visit. As much as I like it here, the BIGGEST DEAL KILLER is the FREEZING COLD ocean all year round.
I suggest you travel north and check out those beaches plus MACEIO. The beaches there are pristine and it looks like tht Bahamas. Just north of there is Porto de Galinhas, another very popular beach town. You can go all the way north to Fortaleza too, very hot but a beach lover's paradise. Suggest you AVOID NATAL, not very safe, is pretty dangerous in fact.

Hate to break it to you but there are things going on under your radar in all of the south of Brasil and Florianopolis is one of the worst places
Yes it is a beautiful island with 44 beaches (COLD), mountains, lakes, rivers and a lot of Portuguese Azorean history, but there is another side too
Travelling to the area is a whole other thing vs actually living here, you have no idea.
Tell me where most immigrants came from to the south ? Germany and Italy
Both countries have long reputations for being Nationalistic and Rascist with the ''NaZ' reputation

Which president did the 3 southern states (Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Parana) vote for in mass ? Well of course Bolsonaro- the autocratic wannabe dictator of Brasil, the guy who HATES blacks, gays and people who don't agree with his fascist ideas. The rich loved him because he cut their taxes just like trumpy did in the US (a trumpy wannabe)
They passed off ideas that LULA would make Brasil like Venezeula and some bought it ! They are not smart enough to know the difference between SOCIALISM and COMMUNISM.
LULA was president for 8 years in the past and he never did anything like that, in fact HE is the only one to fight like hell to help the poor and bring them into the middle class. That is why the upper class hates him and that they don't want to pay proper taxes, they rather pay NO taxes.
Take for instance, the owner of HAVAN. He allegedly is famous for NOT paying into his employees govt retirement fund, he owes something 100 million to his employees, but he gets away with it.
Sound familiar- like the Republicans in the US
This is why anyone who comes from another state in Brasil, especially from the north, they are treated poorly and discriminated against. I have heard story after story of people experiencing this.
Sure they will smile and be friendly to you while taking you money, but tell them your are from the north and love LULA, and they will throw you out of their store !
Same goes for hiring people from out of the area, they refuse to. More discrimination just job discrimination this time.
Doesn't paint a pretty picture for Florianopolis and the whole south of Brasil does it !
