Mt. Shirakami is a 1,235-meter tall mountain within the Natural World Heritage Site Shirakami Sanchi.
There are three hiking courses up to the summit: the Juniko, Mt. Mate, and Futamata courses.
From the top of the mountain, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the center of the Natural World Heritage area.
Along the Juniko course, there is a spectacular view of the Juniko Lakes area from Okuzure.
At the foot of Mt. Shirakami, you can enjoy various activities, including trekking through beech forests and around lakes, sea kayaking, bathing in hot springs while gazing out over the ocean, and enjoying a delicious Fukaura tuna steak bowl made using fresh local tuna.
