In this short 60-second video, as we continue our journey along the Path of the Gods (kami-no-michi/神の道), we find ourselves captivated by the ethereal beauty of ancient pine trees that unfurl before our eyes. This boardwalk weaves its way through these magnificent trees, linking the revered pine grove (Miho-no-Matsubara/三保松原) with the sacred Miho Shrine. As we tread upon the boardwalk that protects the roots of the trees, our senses are heightened, immersed in the serenity of the the same path used by the Gods as told in local legends.

Amidst this tranquility, our gaze is drawn to a magnificent sight—a majestic old pine tree that bears the profound marks of time as it twists and bends sculpted by the relentless onslaught of torrential winds and typhoons that batter the Japanese shores year after year.

Its very existence narrates tales of resilience and endurance, a symbol of strength in the face of adversity. Through the years, this venerable tree has become a silent guardian, observing the ebb and flow of seasons and the passage of generations. It has borne witness to the ever-changing landscapes and the footsteps of pilgrims and wanderers who have traversed this sacred path. Its profound presence offers solace and inspiration to those who pause to admire its majesty.

As I stand in reverent admiration, I am reminded of the resilience and beauty that emerges from life’s tempestuous trials. It serves as a poignant reminder that, like the tree, we too have the capacity to adapt, bend, and flourish amidst the storms that seek to challenge us.
