This video covers my week-long photography journey around Japan hunting for pictures and videos of beautiful cherry blossoms.
My friend Kenjiro and I leave Tokyo in our van, our home for the week to come, and travel to several locations through Japan in search of sakura.
We start with mount Yoshino in Nara prefecture and move on to lake Biwa, Shizuoka and Gunma Prefecture to end up at Takato in Nagano for the greatest full bloom we ever experienced. We also stop along the way to shoot Mount Fuji from a tea plantation and from cape Satta.
Cherry blossoms are one of the symbols of Japan and it’s really difficult to get the timing right when shooting them, as the slightest change in weather or atmospheric conditions can drastically influence (or stop) their blooming.
Shot on Nikon D5, Phantom 4 Pro and Gopro Hero 3
