The former USS Growler first opened at the New York’s Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum in 1989 and is the only American guided missile submarine open to the public.
The sub carried Regulus I missile armed with a nuclear warhead. It was 50 times more powerful than the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bomb combined.
