Kenroku-en (兼六園 ) in the city of Kanazawa is one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan, along with Kōraku-en in Okayama and Kairaku-en in Mito. First developed in the 1620’s by the Maeda clan during the Tokugawa shogunate, it became a public park in 1874 following Meiji Restoration begun in 1868.
