I travel on board Italy’s Trenitalia flagship train service between Florence-Bologna-Rimini, and I was disappointed. I hadn’t noticed how to avoid the dreaded ‘table with 4 seats’ on Frecciarossa, as there was zero legroom. Now I know. #trenitalia #frecciarossa

  1. I think the toilet is the best seat on the train, can you bookit in advance? 😀 I'll take Corrour over Bologna Central anyway! I'd be so confused!

  2. Happy to see that there was no toilet tour, we all know what the room looks like and have to use one at least once a day and, unless it is in an absolutely disgraceful state, I for one am not interested.

  3. You should have paid the extra for first class.
We travelled all over Italy last year on Frecciarossa first class. Its only a little more expensive than standard.
I loved the Frecciarossa trains. They are much better tgan Italo in my opinion.
Plus I don't think you travelled on the ETR 1000 trainset. The first one looked like a Frecciaargento train that had the new Frecciarossa livery. And the second train was the older ETR 500 train set.

  4. Squeezing up to gain seating? I wish!! Here in Rio de Janeiro, our (commuter, but still, could be almoat 2 hours) trains are losing seating, just so they can stick more standing passengers in there. Bleh.

  5. I'm pretty fearless, but seriously those train stations are terrifying! Granted, I live in the Arizona 'sticks' with no train service, so I'm not familiar with traveling by train, but Italy looks particularly daunting… Thanks for taking us along on your adventures, I'm learning a lot and sure enjoy the scenery

  6. I didn't need strangers to confirm I'm crazy. What a quote. Scott you sure do get out and about. The channel is great, and I respect and admire you go get it do approach. Thanks for all your efforts. Stay safe and enjoy.

  7. I did Milan to Rimini about 14 years ago and the trains where the same then

  8. The travel experience on a Frecciarossa varies a lot depending on the rolling stock.
The OG Frecciarossa 500 (the second train you got) have the most comfortable seats and the best ride quality, but most of the seats are on bays of four, so legroom can be an issue if the train is full.
The Frecciarossa 1000 are the most stylish, ride quality is pretty good, but seats are generally terrible and are not aligned with the windows (in standard class).
The Frecciarossa 600 is the worst. Formerly branded as Frecciargento, they feel very cramped, the seats are pretty bad, there's limited space for luggage and it's super bumpy.
The Frecciarossa 700 have uncomfortable seats, and the ride quality isn't the best, but it feels way more spacious than the 600s. Positive note: most seats are airline-style and have some decent legroom.

I prefer to take Italo, as they have better on-board service, first class is pretty cheap, and 90% of seats are airline-style, which makes for a much better journey if you have long legs like me and/or when the train is packed.

  9. I think my experience of Frecciarossa was very different but then I travelled between Turin and Milan when it was fairly quiet and had a seat in Business class. I still think that Italy has excellent railways certainly compared to the UK.

  10. Hey BRONZY ! I thought you were a St. Mirren fan 😂 , maybe a bit of the Chic Young variety of ' St. Mirren fan ' 😂 .

  11. What a shame you haven’t enjoyed FS !
The solo-seats legroom in Business class on ETR 500 is unbeatable

  12. if you take tickets yes 2 class it is obvious that there is little legroom, try executive class I think there are no companies in the world with a better service

  13. So basically you are disappointed because you found both trains busy and because of an error of yours when reserving the seats… No offense, but that's quite a poor review, in my opinion!

  14. Best line describing UK trains like Avanti, ScotRail, LNER – "you can swing a cat in those toilets" 😂😂

  15. Well I can say that I travelled to England on a Northern lines train from Preston to Manchester and it was the most uncomfortable journey I've ever made of all the trains I've travelled on in Europe, very expensive ticket for the bad service offered, very slow train, very dirty inside, not even seats available, had to do over 40 minutes of journey on foot, finally got to Manchester picadilly but it was very late.
The next day I even found a strike and there was no train available from Picadilly to Manchester airport, I wasn't even reimbursed for the cost of the taxi I had to pay, because Northern Lines only offered me a voucher, which I won't use anytime soon. when I live in Italy.

  16. I absolutely agree with you about the table seats (in configuration 4+4), they are much worse than the 2+2 configuration both in terms of legroom (when all 4 seats are occupied, the feelings can really become horrendous) and privacy. Unfortunately, Trenitalia put the 4+4 configuration on all its trains and only a few seats per carriage are in 2+2

  17. I do like the trains in Italy as they do have such character in them and how they were built which makes them so beautiful. 😍

  18. Paying market prices on Frecciarossa means you travel in executive. You'll probably note the difference with the ordinary cattle class you tried out.
