Spring has sprung here in Sasbeo, Japan and the good weather is giving me life! We took a fun day trip to Dazaifu to check out the shopping scene, historic shrines, and beautiful cherry blossoms which were in full bloom. If you have ever been to Kamakura or Kawagoe, Dazaifu is similar in that it is a small city filled with tons of history and culture.
This small and quiet city is just a stones throw from downtown Fukuoka and makes for a great day trip destination—even coming all the way from Sasebo. We took the tolls directly there for a trip that cost about $30 one way and took 90 minutes. There are cheaper ways to get there, but be ready to put in that extra time in the car.
Come hungry because there are tons of street food options, yummy drinks, and quaint cafes to check out!
Cherry blossom season was the absolute PERFECT time to visit this city. There are trees everywhere in town and littered in parks right outside of the main tourist area. I’ve got everything listed below!

Japan is so beautiful.
Is it manageable to explore without speaking the language?
