For a traditional Japanese experience I would strongly recommend visiting a relaxing onsen ryokan, a mineral hot springs inn in the mountains. We are here visiting Hakone and there are wonderful onsens but I chose an older ryokan because I enjoy the architecture and wanted to give my daughter an ancient gift of the tradition of hospitality that seems lost in our modern world! Quiet & peaceful, it was definitely worth the struggling of catching the bus here! 😅 The lady serving us tea was our gracious host and showed us around the beautiful place that includes soaking pools (indoor and outdoors) and gardens and served us dinner and breakfast. A traditional futon was laid for us to sleep in the tatami room. Interesting note: There are no nails in traditional Japanese structures! I was trying to spot a nail but couldn’t find one… 😜 Hope you enjoy the video!
