About an hour away from Narita Airport by Skyliner, Ueno, the gateway to Tokyo, is the birthplace of Japanese cafe culture.
Immediately after the end of the samurai Edo period, in 1898, a coffee shop modeled on Western culture opened for the first time in Japan in Ueno.
In Ueno, where that culture has taken root, there are still many tasteful coffee shops.

侍の江戸時代が終わりを迎えた直後、明治21年に西洋文化を模した喫茶店が日本で初めて上野に開業しました。

その文化が根付く上野には、今でも風情ある喫茶店が数多く立ち並んでいます。

    Nice job! Those hidden places are basically socially currency. You share places like this with your work or social connections, you get big points. I have nights in Tokyo where me and a friend do, "I'll show you 3 of my special places and you show me 3 of yours." This is one I didn't know about; but to have this in your back pocket is gold. Cool that you worked in Miley and created continuity. This to me, shows the culture of Japan- arcane places that have been there forever, good food and coffee perfectly prepared, interesting owners, etc.; and done without girls bar stuff or anything that brings out pathology.

    A very nice restaurant. I also always like the unspoken "chemistry" between Miley and JE. When both are traveling alone, this is even more noticeable.

    Hi japan explorer, Happy Easter. 🥚🥚I like your videos because they are always respectful and give a nice and not rude view of Japan, you approach people always very pollite. You are also doing heaps to give a lot of people including, Miley and Misa, a great amount of exposure on YouTube 👍👍. I am wondering how do you film in the street, while people don’t turn their heads because they don’t want to be filmed (maids outside etc.) I know you don’t hide your camera.

    Perhaps you remember me, Peter, I was with you in the panda maid café with Miley, one month ago. 🐼
