JR花咲線（釧路〜根室間）では、2012年4月1日より、
「ルパン三世ラッピングトレイン」の運転を開始しました。
「ルパン三世」は、花咲線の沿線に所在する浜中町出身のモンキー・パンチ氏の代表作であり、その縁で同町ではモンキー・パンチプロジェクトを立ち上げ、地域活性化に取り組んでいます。このたび、浜中町をはじめとする花咲線沿線の自治体等で構成する花咲線沿線観光振興協議会では、このプロジェクトと連動して花咲線の魅力づくりと沿線活性化を図るべく、花咲線車両にルパン三世のラッピングを行い、花咲線を運行することとなりました。
