In 1998, when Pune’s Mayor Dattatreya Gaikwad formed a “sister city” bond with Berman, eight other cities all over the globe came across to tie a knot with Pune. Among those eight cities, one of the most valuable “sister cities” of Pune was Okayama in Japan.
