THE TOUR:
The Castello district is one of the six historic districts of Venice, located in the eastern part of the city. It is the largest district of Venice and is known for its quiet, residential atmosphere and for being home to many traditional artisan workshops.
Castello is also home to some of Venice’s most famous landmarks, including the Arsenale, the largest naval complex in Europe, and the Biennale Gardens, which host the Venice Biennale, an internationally renowned contemporary art exhibition.
Other notable sights in Castello include the Church of San Giorgio dei Greci, one of the oldest and most important Greek Orthodox churches in Venice, and the Church of San Zaccaria, which houses some of Venice’s most important artworks.
The district is also known for its lively local markets and traditional food shops, where visitors can sample delicious Venetian cuisine and purchase local specialties such as fresh seafood, handmade pasta, and local wines.

Via Garibaldi is a street located in the Castello district of Venice, Italy. It is one of the widest and longest streets in Venice and is known for its lively atmosphere and charming architecture.
Via Garibaldi was originally called the “Strada Nuova” (New Street) when it was built in the mid-16th century to connect the Arsenale naval base to the commercial center of Venice. In the 19th century, the street was renamed in honor of Giuseppe Garibaldi, a prominent Italian nationalist and military leader.
Today, Via Garibaldi is a popular destination for both locals and tourists alike, offering a variety of shops, restaurants, cafes, and bars. The street is particularly known for its authentic Venetian cuisine, including fresh seafood, traditional pastries, and local wines.
Visitors can also explore the numerous historic buildings and landmarks that line the street, including the Palazzo Giustinian, which houses the Venice Biennale headquarters, and the Church of San Francesco della Vigna, a beautiful Renaissance-era church known for its ornate decorations and artwork.
Overall, Via Garibaldi is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Venice, offering a unique blend of history, culture, and modern-day charm.
