Okunoin Cemetery in Koyasan, Wakayama is one of Japans most sacred places as it is said to be the place where the founder of Shingon Buddhism, Kobo Daishi, is enshrined. Over 300,000 tombstones fill the cemetery and trees (some over 500 years old) line the pathway.
